Weekend at Mitchie's: The Senate Edition

Nothing says "healthy democracy" quite like the internet collectively asking whether a sitting senator is secretly dead while party leadership keeps insisting everything is totally normal.

At this point we're one grainy photograph away from Weekend at Bernie's becoming a fucking documentary.

The truly amazing part isn't the conspiracy theories. It's that public trust has been eroded so thoroughly that millions of people hear an official explanation and immediately think, "Well that's suspicious as shit."

That's not a citizen problem. That's an institution problem.

For decades we've been told transparency is important.

Then somehow basic questions get answered with the political equivalent of "just trust me, bro."

And when people start connecting random dots, everyone acts shocked that confidence in government has fallen through the fucking floor.

To be clear: evidence matters. Facts matter. Reality matters.

But if your communications strategy accidentally makes a Senate leader look like Schrödinger's Republican, maybe don't act surprised when people start writing fan fiction.
