Gotham3Returns
Why not try ear plugs around 4'th of july?
ButYouAintGotNoLegs
For a week before and a week afterwards? That's realistic. How about you shoot off all your fireworks on the day they're intended for?
agreed
jarhead670
So I can only shoot off fireworks one day a year? I'm sorry, I thought this was America!
Look, not everyone considers the fact that fireworks can have ill mental and emotional effects on someone. Fine. But once you're aware they
can, get to know your neighbor's and ask them about it, or keep your fireworks usage for the day people are expecting them. Freedom doesn't
require you to be an outright dick, but knowing someone could be seriously affected, and saying "fuck them, I like boom flashy lights", does
Luxomancer
Last year our town lost a vet from firework triggered PTSD, this year I am just doing sparklers.
If a vet offed himself because fireworks "triggered" his "ptsd" he was gonna kill himself anyway, using fireworks as a "trigger"was a copout

IExplainTheObvious
Some combat veterans end up with PTSD. It is courteous to let them know if fireworks are going to be set off near them.
ohlookitsaplatypus
Just curious, why is it courteous?
Because fireworks can be mistaken for gunfire or bombs, triggering their PTSD. There is a difference between distant and nearby fireworks.
But still, why should I care about their ptsd? On the fourth of July or New Year's they should have the wherewithal to prepare
Caring about the wellbeing of others is called empathy. The lack of it is often called sociopathy.
They will be prepared for county or city fireworks. However, letting them know fireworks will go off nearby will let them prepare.
SomethingAwesomer
These guys shouldn't go to Europe on holidays like NYE. They have street battles with fireworks. Even I was terrified, and I'm not a vet.

how scary, the idea that someone is asking you to consider someone other than yourself
"please be courteous with fireworks" can be interpreted to mean "please refrain from launching them prior to the 4th when i don't expect it"
No one can ever have fun again because you went to war? Wake up to yourself, clown.
Who gives a fuck, I don't care if people set them off on October 18th, it's not their responsibility to change their entire life for you.
ShinyInSerenity
How can you be courteous with fire works other than not using them?
LessThanLucky
You could also plan to set them off elsewhere: opposite end of street, friend's house, etc. or just give them a heads up of when you will
Use them only on July 4th so these guys can prepare. Don't surprise them with fireworks on June 29th.
That makes sense. Thanks
So, only one day a year?
Dude, you just commented this on another of my comments. Boom lights are a big deal to you, eh?
I obviously don't give a shit about your opinion then, do I?
