This is my dog, Watson.
Watson is an SPCA rescue. He was neglected, and he is ALWAYS concerned about food. When there isn't any, he freaks out.
Watson had surgery to remove a benign growth from his eyelid.
Unfortunately, this meant he was in the Cone of Shame for a long time, and wasn't able to do his favorite thing - chew on rawhide when his tummy felt too empty.
Because of this, Watson ate a dishcloth.
This is Watson, disemboweled on the operating table after eating the dishcloth. When I took him in after I realized, he was very sick, barely responsive, and it was hard for him to even walk.
Watson was lucky.
This is Watson, after his second surgery. He was extremely lucky, survived, and is currently on the mend.
The Golden on the left is Zak. Zak wasn't lucky.
The Golden on the left is my friend GG's dog, Zak. When the vet removed the fabric from Zak's bowels, it had rotted so much they couldn't even identify what it had been. Zak died of infection.
PLEASE DON'T.
Your dogs depend upon you to be responsible about what you give them to play with. DO NOT give a dog fabric as a toy. Please, Imgurians, be careful with your pets!

For Dogs AND Cats: Don't let them have stringy-type toys because the strings can get caught in their bowels as well and require surgery.

Also, rawhide is not fully digestible and can cause blockages too. Try bullysticks (yes, hahaha cow dicks) or Himalayan chews!

We tried beef trachea once (like rawhide, but thinner and sharper). $700 later, we were lucky no surgery was needed. Bullysticks are awesome

We didn't either until I came home after work to bloody diarrhea everywhere. We pretty much disavowed all rawhide after that, just in case.

Also, don't feed your dogs rawhide. They can't digest it properly. I've seen dogs in similar situations due to rawhide.

Well put. Dog toys need to be either COMPLETELY EDIBLE or COMPLETELY INDESTRUCTIBLE. Supervise and inspect all chewing toys after use.

The only toys my 13 y/o lab gets are Kong Toys. He destroys anything else but no matter how much he tries he can't shred the rubber.

Same with my pit and boxer. I've had the best luck with Med. and Lg. (XL is too easy to get a tooth on either side of 1 layer)

My 120 lb. Dane mix just gets those football sized Kong toys. I fill them with peanut butter. Dogs love the PB.

I've seen lots of squeakers removed from the intestines of dogs that would have died without surgery. Not a good toy for a destructive dog.

The problem with my dog is that he only chews fabric toys, like stuffed toys. He wont try anything else. I just have to be really careful

You should try the Pogo plush toy. It's got a little rubber "cage" underneath the fabric, which makes it hard to tear off the outside.

Be careful with hardcore chewers and "indestructible" toys, teeth can be fractured by things like deer antlers and whatnot! Good advice :)

Boomer balls. Designed for zoo animals (like lions and elephants). My sister's mastiff has yet to destroy hers, and she destroys everything.

That's a nice thought, but there is literally no such thing as an indestructible toy for my dog, and the edible ones are gone in minutes.

Organic toys which are digestible worked best for us. Big hunks of untreated wood (the kind that doesn't splinter) were good.

You might try the Kong with the rope/tough nylon fabric through the middle, but she still needs to be supervised and toys need inspecting
