They're as bad as mixing someone's ashes with the ink. Most tattooists just will not do this because of the dangers.

For tattooing you need a completely sterile environment. Putting ASH into an open wound is never ever a good idea.

Not to put into an open wound BUT EVEN SO the particles of ash are too big to mix with the ink effectively so it's pointless AND dangerous.
