I'd rather see a video explaining how they used to make prescription glasses back in the early 1900's or earlier before there was all this technology helping them make sure they made the right prescription.
All but a handful of lens are made by the thousands in a factory, and only cut to size for the frames. Which is good since resin material isn't strong enough to be at all scratch resistant.

I was an optician for a while (very regrettably). Its a safety thing and also plastics can be made with different densities and refractive indices so that you can get a more powerful lens that isn't as thick as a brick.
Luxottica owns the store and the eye care insurance so when I want to get my free eyeglasses every year the salesperson tells me to pick from the shittiest frames in the store and tries to upsell me. Also is it just me or is it fucked that there are people at the front of the store trying to shake me down and there is an optician in the back of the store disconnected from the rest of the healthcare system.

Try having a complicated lens. My frames cost fuck all, my lens options needed to make them fit without looking like jam jars cost me over an extra £100.
I literally have zenni’s on right now and the peeling has been happening for 2.5 years now. I need new glasses mind you but it’s just ridiculous that the expensive coating breaks down with normal general use.
Yes. Mine aren't cheap either but after a year or two they start to flake. Used to be worse, they would yellow too but that hasn't happened in well over a decade.
It's possible that's it, but it shouldn't be. I have hyperhidrosis. I sweat profusely. If I wear specs with electroplated frames, the coating will corrode and flake off. (I turn silver jewellery black in a couple of days.) These days, I only wear titanium or stainless steel. Still no issues with the lenses.
You'll probably find that no matter what brand your specs are labelled as, or what store you're buying them from, you're still buying the same overpriced crap from the same manufacturer.
