tbh the Military has been getting increasingly desperate for recruits for years. I don't think an actual draft is in the cards because that might actually convince people to shoot Trump before they go die in a desert for Israel.

The reason America hasn’t risen up in revolt thus far is because people don’t really do that en masse unless they collectively have nothing to lose, unless the risk of doing nothing outweighs the risk of revolution, and the US has not reached that point for most people. A draft may well put us over that edge.

And both of those jobs do extensive background checks. Was hired just fine with testing positive for marijuana. The Residential Managers position for the houses for the mentally disabled had my test shipped to a lab in Penn. Had a guy call me to tell me I tested positive for marijuana. I was like “ok”. He was confused and says “that means I have to alert your employer of that.” Again I’m like “ok”. He’s confused at this point. I say “recreational is legal in NY. I buy weed by mail even”.

I’ve had 7 different jobs in the 5 years it’s been legal and never once has me testing positive for marijuana been an issue. One job was as a cook for a hospitals keep home and another was being a Residential Manager for State and Federally funded houses for the mentally challenged.

Draft might be exactly the “straw that breaks the camel’s back” when it comes to apathy about how bad things have gotten.
As is for most folks it looks like “choose to resist or choose to be safe” right up until the boots are outside their door. With a draft that that could start to look VERY different. Perhaps more significantly if the draft takes off it’s like creating an armed, trained, and motivated resistance.
