CPAP GANG! 24 AHI REPRESENT!

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I was at 45/hr. Was 40 yrs old before I was introduced to real sleep. Love my cpap

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Preach it! I used to struggle through multiple alarms. Since using my CPAP, I'm always up an hour before my alarm - actually feeling rested.

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

I wear mine every night. Saves my life!

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I have found happiness sleeping with a CPAP. Never going back.

5 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 1

Amen to that.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Yep, I used to snore like a chainsaw. Been using one more than 10 years and couldn’t imagine sleeping without it.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I got an 87 on the sleep test, thought I finally got my first "A"! Doctor lady was not as amused as I was... Can't sleep without the thing

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

C'mon that's a perfect funny for both the doctor and patient to laugh at!

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Hand on my heart, I wish I hadn't waited so long to get one. The mask takes a bit of getting used to but much better than the dental splint.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

People think CPAPs are only for fat old men but I got my CPAP at 30 and am a thin healthy female.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

My dentist said I had so many teeth removed for my orthodontia that it made my mouth too small and my tongue gets pushed back into my throat

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Feel embarrassed using the machine but it does help!

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Works great!

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

The woman I saw made me feel guilty for questioning my test results for a cpap machine and got really pushy about me buying the stuff...

5 years ago | Likes 179 Dislikes 1

My husband's test came back he was stopping over 60 times per hour too. He was Always exhausted but he wears a cpap now & feels 100% better!

5 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 1

Ditto! I would pass out into a gasping for breath-snoring mess when I donated platelets, that was my que. Now better than ever!

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

*cue

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This was my experience as well. Turns out that staying hydrated and working out regularly solved my problem, but that was never suggested.

5 years ago | Likes 131 Dislikes 2

Hydration was huge for me. But I've gotten fat during covid and snored like a diesel truck when I was skinny

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That reminds me of my dentist, keeping on trying to sell me their expensive "cleaning service". Flossing got rid of the problem

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

unless you lost weight and don't have apnea anymore, it didn't solve your problem. If you still have apnea, it's still stressing your heart.

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

I lost twenty pounds and that did the trick for me. Having a narrow back jaw mouth part thing + being slightly overweight = sleep apnea 4 me

5 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Interesting. Every sleep doctor and airway specialist I've seen (have seen a lot of airway specialists) all say losing weight is the first/1

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

you should do. :/

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I saw a sleep doctor recently. He explained to me that CPAP therapy is almost always a 2ndary solution and that weight loss is the primary.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ok but I have a cousin who is super fit and has terrible sleep apnea sooo...

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That's because it doesn't work for most people, and the machine is like 99% effective. Oh and the machine works now, not in 3 months.

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

This is what I say when people tell me losing weight will help my back pain. It will take me months to lose weight and my back hurts now

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Straight up truth. Same shit with Covid. “How come people won’t admit unhealthy eating is the real killer”. Thanks, now do the pandemic.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I realize that this won’t work for everyone, and some people do genuinely need the machine.

5 years ago | Likes 76 Dislikes 0

As a med student, I wish more people were like you and made enough lifestyle changes to lose the weight and not need the machine.

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Yeah, I wish this were the case for me. Sadly, I have 68+ incidents/hour from an "unknown" source. My brain just stops me from breathing.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So going from that to under 5 per hour, was a lifesaver. Literally. It's not always best to push the "make changes" idea.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Kinda what I'm hoping. I'm 50 pounds heavier than I should be. Definitely not helping. Lol

5 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Ugh, was 120 over my goal weight got sick and now 150 over.... sadness

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Keep your head up and focus on it a goal at a time. You'll get there!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ever since (last year) I feel like it's a bit if a scam. I questioned the test because I could sleep because the chest strap kept moving and

5 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 10

Waking me up all night so how accurate could the result be. My dad said he had a index finger thing and that's it. He loves his so.... dunno

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 3

It’s for sure a scam. I did the sleep test & the guy called the next day, confirmed I had good insurance & and then told me I need to 1/2

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 5

Come in to get a machine. I asked if my results would be sent to my doctor & he said yes. 3 months later, still never received them 2/2

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

You might have run into a scam. But the device, if prescribed and used on someone who needs it, is not.

5 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

100% agree. It's odd because this is Canada.. I didn't think they'd be so pushy.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm sorry you had a lousy experience.

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I have a cpap because I suck my tongue into my throat. I was told over the phone to "lose weight to get off the machine". I'm not overweight

5 years ago | Likes 113 Dislikes 0

Dude fucking same I don’t know how to fix the issue. It was after I had a bad sinus infection.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Were you breathing heavy into the phone?

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Dreaming of French kissing? Oof

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Worse, dreaming of the Colombian necktie...

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's more common in overweight people, but skinny folks also suffer from sleep apnea.

5 years ago | Likes 85 Dislikes 0

There are people between overweight and skinny

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There’s a good case to be made that weight gain is a symptom of sleep apnea in many patients and not the cause. Not all, but many.

5 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Skinny guy here. I died almost every night. Much better now cause my wife doesn’t punch me in the face

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

This is true. I've been both underweight and overweight, still tired AF without CPAP.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Like my husband. Oh god

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

A surgeon refused to schedule me for an operation because I was morbidly obese. I was a bodybuilder. He’d never seen me was going off chart.

5 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

Not condoning the behavior but in the US it’s probably a safe assumption 90% of the time.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

If you are a statistician, yes - if you are a doctor, never.

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Jesus.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

most common cause in normal weight people is huge tonsils.

5 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Or small airway and narrow palate.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have huge tonsils. I have considered asking if my doctor will misdiagnose me to help me get insurance to cover removal. Fucking insurance.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Huge tonsils for me, they put me on cpap instead as they're not keen to operate on me. Annoys me as I cant sleep with that mask on either.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Elective surgery

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Why aren’t they keen to operate? I’m in the same boat

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Adults tend to have more complications after surgery. They don't bounce back from it like kids.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yah it's risky in adults. We try to catch people while they're kids these days

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I was supposed to have my tonsils removed when I was like 9. Sadly I had to change drs b4 it could be arranged & my new dr refused. He...

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

would just say that we're born w them for a reason so there's no reason to remove them. I still have them & get throat infections yearly.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Once my brother farted into the intake fan for my dad's CPAP machine and my dad woke up choking from the noxious air forced down his throat.

5 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 2

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Every time I use mine I wake up feeling like I’m suffocating and rip it off in a panic ??‍♂️

5 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Is it turned on?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sounds like you need to increase the pressure, the deeper you sleep the more you need. So start out at 7 lbs and have it go up to 11.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You may have it too tight. It's a minor art to get your mask fitting well.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

having a beard makes it a special challenge

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I Know, because I too have a beard.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Which type is mask do you use? There are many that you can barely feel like it's on.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I’ve tried full face, over nose, under nose, and partial mouth/nose.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

? I was going to say the pillows under nose ones are pretty discreet but you've tried that.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

the pillows were definitely the most comfortable option, but i also couldn't get to sleep with them.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Same here but also knowing that my wife won’t smother me in my sleep because of the snoring.

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I have had (and used) a CPAP machine since 1997, saved my life, saved my marriage and became a much better dad.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

the real bonus (other than not dying in my sleep), is being able to fully immerse under my covers without having to breath hot, stale air

5 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Ive heard that you cant die in your sleep from apnea since your body will just wake you up if that would to happen.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

No, that's not true. You can die in your sleep from sleep apnea.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Ah ok, Id heard wrong then. Cheers

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I have stopped breathing in my sleep before. Thankfully my wife noticed and shook the hell out of me. Can’t afford a sleep study tho. Yay

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Oh damn, how much does it cost for you? Mine went for ~10$ (in Sweden)

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Because I have a history of respiratory arrest, my doctor said the study would be more advance. Potentially around 1000.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I get terrible light on my window in the morning. I always wake up completely under the covers, safe forever!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wait, how have I not thought of this yet?! Guess what I’m doing tonight!!

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Had mine for a few years now, absolutely changed my life! Hope someday I won’t need it anymore but so grateful to get a good sleep now

Any tips for cat proofing a cpap machine? My last one got destroyed despite my best efforts

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

They sell a ‘snuggy’ for your cPap. It’s a fleece cover. Makes it quieter and may keep your cat from poking it.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

My cat would demolish the tubing constantly. After placing one those fleece wraps on the tubing, he never bothered with it again.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Omg naughty kitty. Mine is terrified of the air tube. Perhaps try that spray to keep them away from scratching furniture. Or keep a can of

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

compressed air near your bed. When he gets near it give him a spritz of air. Eventually you'll only need to grab the can and he'll bolt.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Hey! I remember your post from a couple of days ago!

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

CPAP Sleepers unite!

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Serious question, but are these machines loud? My SO is a light sleeper.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Not really. A lot if days I forget to turn it off bc I can’t hear it and I forget.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They're very quiet.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The machine itself makes no noise, you can sometimes hear the venting air from the mask if you sleep on your side. Not loudly, though.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

When in use, you can barely hear it. A properly fitting mask is the most important thing, though. Air leaks hiss.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My machine is super quiet!

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

What’s that mask called. I think that would work better. I have the nose sling.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That machine is rather dated, should be able to upgrade to a newer one with better filtration and get it insurance/gov covered.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yup my appointment is next week

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Hell yeah, brother (or sister)! Had one for the last six years, it's changed my life.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

My Mum was at risk of strokes and was given one by our local hospital. She sleeps better than she has in years. Amazing technology

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I used to lay awake so many nights hearing my dad's earthquaking snore, this machine changed my life. To him, it just slightly improved it

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I have never been less sexy in my life, than when I wear a CPAP, but I get to sleep in the same bed as my partner again, so it's worth it.

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

I got mine less than 1 week ago and MY GOD the difference. Is this how normal people feel every day when they wake up? Holy fuck

5 years ago | Likes 138 Dislikes 0

is fuckin bullshit that you need prescription first

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I know, right?! I only got 3 hours of sleep the first night with mine but it felt like 9 hours. The sleep quality improvement was huge.

5 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 0

I’m pretty sure I have sleep apnea. Eye doctor suspects it. But... my god this office is NEVER open. I am SO goddamned tired.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Vision getting worse. Always angry. Personality changing. Ugh.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Ask your partner if you stop breathing in bed. Or record yourself. A sleep study is best as it will show the extent of any issues

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It’s life changing!

5 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

I've been wearing one for almost a decade and a half. It really is one of the best things that ever happened to me.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I’m need to get one however unsure where to start? Any advice?

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I started googling “sleep doctor.” Turns out you want a pulmonologist. Found one working out of a hospital near me. My wife’s insurance 1/

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Meant I didn’t need a referral or see my PCP first. Maybe see your PCP about it first?

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Getting a sleep study is always the first step, so take it up with your care provider.

5 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

What if Im American with no health insurance?

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Go be Canadian I guess?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Prep for a second mortgage

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I was getting blocked 18 times a minute. When I finally got mine I slept for 3 hours in the afternoon and thought it was the next 1/2

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Morning when I woke up. It was the first time I could recall dreaming in more than 5 years.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Same for Me I never recall having any dreams before my CPAP

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I know. What the hell is 5am? When did that happen?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Unfortunately for me it wasn't a night and day. It just relieved some is the worst symptoms. I'm still often really tired.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I know. The first morning I woke up, I felt like I'd taken four cups of coffee without the crash or jitteriness. Good sleep is a drug.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The first night with my face octopus was hell. The second night, though, and the morning after was downright amazing.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

New CPAP user here. Question. How do y'all manage to run the humidifier without flooding the mask's vents with condensation?

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Run mine every night on full humidity setting and have never had that issue. Would advise to ask whoever prescribed your CPAP.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My machine has heated lines and never really had that issue. I turned off the humidifier, though, since I do better without it.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Running the humidifier on lower temps and keeping the CPAP on a nightstand that's lower than your mattress.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I need the humidifier on mine or else I get nosebleeds, but even at the lowest setting, I wake up in the middle of the night because the

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

vents are flooded/clogged with water condensation.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Its worth it to keep trying!! Those who say it’s uncomfortable: please keep trying different masks. There are ooddles of them for a reason.

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

If you can’t get the hang of breathing, ask your practitioner about BiPAP

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

If it’s too noisy, there are super quite machines out there or put in on the floor under your bed, etc.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

You can sleep in any position, you may need a special cutout pillow depending on your mask.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

My BiPAP saved my life. Please, please don’t give up on it if you have sleep apnea!

I fucking love my cpap machine barely had it a month

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I got one back in November but haven't used it because I'm scared of it for some reason. Mine is like 123 times an hour.

5 years ago | Likes 109 Dislikes 4

There are multiple styles of masks and ramp up types, easy to find one to suit you.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

107 here my dude, use the machine it rocks. You will feel better, and won't die of a heart attack.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wow, mine was 17 times an hour and it makes a difference for me I cant imagine how good you will feel.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They cause severe depression the first year trying to adjust I hear but after that it’s heavenly. No more waking feeling zombie tired.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The improved sleep only helped my depression.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So many benefits. Lower blood pressure, better sleep, no sore arm from wife punching you because freight train snores, no getting up to pee.

5 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Better sleep, kidneys also rest, so less peeing? There is also 2-way connection between obstructive sleep apnea and chronic kidney disease.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It’s the blood pressure not spiking as you almost die, so the kidneys don’t create urgency as often through the night

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There's nothing to be scared of. On the contrary, the health benefits it provides are immense.

5 years ago | Likes 126 Dislikes 0

Been using mine for 10 years. Life fudging changing

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Sooo true. Took me about 6 months to get completely comfortable with it and I no longer nod off every time I stop moving

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I was at 99 times myself. Took some getting used to but now I swear by it.

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Yeah that’s pretty drastic.Think my highest was 130 but my dad ignored it for 20 years then got serious heart problems so he encouraged asap

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I've heard that you can drop a good bit of weight. I could benefit from that. Im trying to finish my thesis right now so I need better sleep

5 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 0

Dooo the thing!

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

That is true, but losing weight is much, much harder if you don't get proper sleep.

5 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

I was tired all the time before it. Ever since my CPAP I dropped a bunch of weight, feel better and I shit you not I took up Krav Maga and..

5 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

..am currently training for black belt. CPAP changed my life dramatically.

5 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

But...wait...if I use it will I ALSO start learning martial arts???

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Can I ask how do you know if you'd benefit from one? I've been getting shit sleep most of my life but I'm unsure if this will help.

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Mine was about the same. Remember it being over twice a min. I LOVE my cpap. I feel like I'm finally getting sleep. Also, not as tired 1/2

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

All the time and don't nap constantly. Its great once you get used to it. 2/2

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hooooly shit, you win. That's probably something you should get on real quick.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Just do it. You won't regret it.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Bruh, I started using one last year. I am excited to go to sleep now knowing I will actually sleep and be rested.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I feel so much better after using my cpap consistently. Try out different types of masks. Took awhile to get comfortable and right mask.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My AHI is below 1 now that I'm using it.

5 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

I clock around 0.1-0.3 every night. Over a year of daily use and it hasn't deviated from that range even once.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

What AHI?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It was 53 untreated.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sorry, I meant what is an AHI?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Apnea–hypopnea index. Essentially the average number of times you stopped breathing for 10 seconds or more per hour.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It can be tough to start, but once you get used to it your life improves dramatically. I used to fall asleep any time I sat still.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You have to use it. It will change ur life. I quit smoking I'm so rested and balanced.

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

LOVE MINE

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

As someone who also got a CPAP in November - USE IT. It will legitimately change your life (and your sleeping) for the better.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

At this point I’m too afraid of *not* using it…

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

My machine is so quiet that sometimes I look to see if it’s on. The ramp time makes it easier to wear too.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Changed my BF’s life. He used to fucking choke, gag, toss endlessly, nightmares. Sleeps 100x better now.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Jesus H. Christ on a cracker! Do you know what that’s doing to your cardiovascular system?!!! Use it man! You won’t believe how you feel.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I love mine. It took some getting used to, but now I panic when I think it won’t be available. You will grow to love it.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Took me 10 years to use one. I can’t imagine how much better the last 10 years might’ve been.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Mine was in the 300s

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Your brain is about 1-2% of your body weight. But it uses 25-30% of the oxygen you breathe in. You want to wear your CPAP.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Wear it for a bit before you try to sleep!

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It takes a couple night to get used to it, but it has been great all these years enjoying a full night's sleep after years of not.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Started using one a few months ago. Resisted for years. God im dumb. Use it. Life is so much better when you arent constantly tired.

5 years ago | Likes 53 Dislikes 0

I used to fall asleep at traffic lights and stop signs

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Good on you for getting started! Better late than never.

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Use it. It takes some getting used to but I HATE not using it now. I was up around 120 events per hour... Under 3 now.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I had panic attacks the first three months. You will get used to it. Try a bit at a time till you get bored with it. It will be friends.

5 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

I have one but struggle to wear because insomnia means my time to fall asleep is in the 60-180 minute range and it's uncomfortable for that.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

But it absolutely helps when I have it on. I highly suggest you give it a chance. It works wonders.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Try listening to Weightless by Macaroni Union. It’s “the most relaxing song in the world” and used by doctors before surgeries. Works for me

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I shall give it a listen, thank you for the suggestion!

I can't breath out when I use mine....

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I had that problem, told my NP and she set me up with a BiPAP. It’s awesome!!!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I had problems getting used to mine. Had good luck with the dreamwear since it’s unobtrusive with the hose at the top of your head.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I have had so many patients that don’t wear their CPAP. They’re miserable all day and get snotty when you point out the connection.

5 years ago | Likes 1436 Dislikes 5

For the life of me I'll never understand that attitude. When I started using my cpap it was like being injected with a super soldier serum.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This always bewilders me. One’s choices are an awkward blowey boi or REM DEPRIVATION.

5 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

Not just REM deprecation, sleep apnea can really screw up your heart

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

And the awkward blowey boi becomes considerably less awkward when you've gotten used to it. I actually can't fall asleep without my mask on.

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

My husband desperately needs it, but won't because his dad has one and says its uncomfortable.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

As a life long insomniac and just generally a horrible sleeper in so jealous of all these 'getting real sleep changed my life!' stories

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

I don't have breathing issues, and as annoying as I'm sure the mask would be I'd LOVE a solution that is so complete and drastic

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Its bullshit the damn things are prescription. Cost a damn arm and a leg.

5 years ago | Likes 53 Dislikes 4

Cpap.com still not cheap but it helps

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My insurance covers mine. But there are websites I’ve used when I didn’t have the coverage.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And if you don’t use it it reports back to the clinic. If you don’t pay, they literally turn it off.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It’s like 100$ a month too

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Whoa what? You have a "breathing subscription"?? The fuck. I got mine 3y ago, cost me nothing (Canada) and I don't pay anything monthly.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thankfully, in Sweden they are provided almost for free, I pay 50 bucks annually for mine.

5 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 0

Same but in my region it's closer to 150 USD per year. Still cheap tho, humidifier and tubes etc is all included, plus replacements.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I’m lucky I live in UK mine is completely free... something, something, socialism blah blah blah ?

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I've never shopped for one, but knowing it's 50 for you, it's probably $5000 in the US.

5 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

They're not that much to purchase outright. You have one too many zero's on the end (ie. $500)

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

lucky here it costs approximately $1,800 to $2,500 including a mask. sauce: https://www.albertahealthservices.ca/services/page5092.aspx

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Anyone know the price if you live in Canada?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

$1000-$2000, depending where you buy a machine. However, of you have additional insurance (maybe at work as a part of your benefits), check…

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

…with them. I have Manulife and they reimbursed the full cost. My plan also covers one new mask per year.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My friend forgot his on a trip to mexico once. He said he was miserable and tired the entire time and had a hard time enjoying anything

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

A part of SO's broke on the airplane once. Went without 1 night. I drove the rental car an hour to a random CPAP store. WORTH IT

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Mine's great, when I'm able to fall asleep with it on.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

My next dr visit I'm asking for a sleep study. I'm tired of being tired all day. I NEED to exercise, and I'm too exhausted...

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I've tried every full face bc I'm a mouth breather. I rip it them off on my sleep without knowing it. I needed 4hr/ night for insurance

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

to pay. I had to return it. I want to wear it so much but I can't keep it on long enough.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

how do you find out if you need it?

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Talk to your general practitioner and get a referral, or a referral from your dentist or a pulmonologist.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

You should talk to your doctor.

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Sleep study or most dentist have something you go home with that test

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I test people for cognitive impairments/dementia. Soooo many of my patients have obstructive sleep apnea and refuse to use their CPAPS.

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

That's the worst part about bad sleep. You don't even know that your problems are likely caused by it

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Same here! Many give up after week 2. It’s difficult for some, but it’s the #1 solution to treating OSA/CSA we have. Gotta give it your all.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I tried to, I woke up after 4 hours ready to start the day and felt miserable the rest of it.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Jokes on you! I wear mine and am still tired....wait.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yo, as an RT the fact that people hate breathing soooooo much surprised me

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Jfc what assholes. I don't understand people that don't use it

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

NO!!!

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

But in all seriousness I couldn't stand to not have mine for more than a day or two. It's crazy that someone would need it and not want it

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I fucking love my auto pap. Its an intimate ritual now to prepare

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Tell them to give it to me. Im desperate enough for one.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Do they get ambien or booze or tranq darts to help? Legit curious because i'm in the "should have a study, but scared" category

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Giving someone with obstructive sleep apnea sleep meds can be dangerous. It depends on the severity of the case

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You can ask for sleep medication or you can try melatonin. I personally have taken trazadone and clonidine (at different times) and it /1

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

helps ease the anxiety around using a pap machine and helps me fall asleep.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I am one of those people. I just hate taking care of the damn machine. And I got a garbage one that doesn't have the adjusty airflow so 1/2

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It just blows at that one pressure which makes it shitty. And I take on the hose. It's just shitty to sleep with unless I'm sitting up. :(

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I wear mine as much as I can, on average I miss out like once a month. Using it has improved my mood much more than I can explain!

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

My dad does the same. His snoring is so loud we have to yell at him to wake him up and get him off the couch.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It took me a year, 3 masks, and switching to Auto Pap to make it through a full night. Higher pressures (26cm for me) make it really hard.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Based on my MIL I think the Snottyness is due to the Sleep Apnea... like just the tireness makes them permanently grumpy and snappy

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yep. I was miserable before getting my machine.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How many of the ones using the CPAP get water retention in your legs? Which goes away after not using the CPAP for 2-3 days

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Possible that the positive pressure is reducing venous return to the heart causing a backup/swelling in the legs.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Can you elaborate?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Pulmonary hypertension, make sure you get as tight a seal as possible as it will use the lowest pressure on an APAP

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Huh? Is this an actual thing?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It is for me atleast...

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Dot. I have that but it started before I got my CPAP. I'll have to research this because my feet are crazy swollen.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My father like to use an oxygen cylinder while sleeping, can this device replace that cylinder?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Only if he stops breathing in his sleep (aka apneas). If his O2 saturation is bad even with a clear airway, a CPAP won't help.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I wear mine every night. And even for naps when I can get them. Still miserable.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I’ve done 2 sleep studies, neither of them showed sleep apnea. Part of me wishes it did so I could just get the CPAP and solve the problem

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Please tell your patients to look into Oral Appliance Therapy. An accredited sleep dentist can fit them for OAT. It fixes CPAP intolerance.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Has this just been an untreated issue throughout human history because I work in a hotel and see a lot of people using cpap machines.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I think with the increase of obesity and people overweight, this increases their risk factors. Also, allergies might be a cause for 1/2

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

the use of CPAP machines (look up underlying causes like sleep apnea)

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Also bad orthodontic work, small palates which result in narrow airways. Currently dealing with this and need palatal expansion as an adult

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

jesus, that sounds awful! Not gonna be looking at surgery for that

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I wake up feeling awful. Kept throwing my mask off in my sleep the other night. Two days later and I still don't feel caught up.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

One of my patients went into heart failure due to CPAP non-compliance

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Tried CPAP but I repeatedly pulled it off in my sleep. Made myself a free wedge pillow, that fixed my year long problem with sleep apnea.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I didn't wear mine for years. Been wearing it every night for the last 2. Never going back, i sleep like a baby

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My doctor said same to me, I hate my machine but I will try again for my health, SO, and my doctor

5 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

I hate having to use it... But not waking up feeling like the walking dead and decreased risk of heart attack/stroke makes it all worthwhile

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Try a different mask. Seriously.

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I have first was the full mask and now I have the nasal one. My doctor thinks I need a new one since mines over 10 years old but I can’t

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Afford a new :(

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh man that sucks. How much is the one they’re recommending?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Check with your insurance company too, most will just pay for a new machine after 5-7 years. If on Medicaid, ask about donation programs

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

New mask: try Amazon and at least change out the "cushion" part. New machine: Secondwind CPAP I think it was called? Refurbished, but work.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My doc finally got me to try again with "would you rather have a stroke?". Honestly, disabled is scarier than dead to me. But also, 1/

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

If your pressure is on the high side you might benefit from auto Pap or a longer ramp?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have it i. The lowest which seems to allow me to wear it longer than before but never the full night an hour at most before I end up

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Taking it off

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How? One night without the thing and it feels like my lungs are 50 years older than the rest of me.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Saaaame!

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I fucking love my cpap machine barely had it a month

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Massage therapist here, people don't like when you tell them how to live.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Always felt like I was drowning in air and never could get comfortable.. would give me panic attacks

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My O2 levels were getting to "near death" levels before my CPAP, can't sleep without it now. Power outages are a bitch.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Get a battery backup inverter, aka battery generator. Covers you during power outages

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Before cheaper rechargeable batteries big enough for cpaps, my mom would use a car battery during power outages for hers because she /1

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

couldn't sleep without it either.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I still have trouble being tired all time but won’t sleep without it

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Me too. Sleep stats are better but I am still tired.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I was wearing mine fine....then got hit with a bunch of bad stuff and nightmares and anxiety attacks make it so i cant wear it now....

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

taled to my primary who tried to get me into the sleep doc, months long wait....and im moving which means resetting all my docs...

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I cannot sleep with one on. I've tried for so long. I'm jealous of people that can work with one.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Wear the mask all day. Seriously. Wear the entire head apparatus all day until your brain gets used to it being there. You won't notice.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Do it for a weekend. You'll look dumb for a few days, but you'll sleep like a baby for the rest of your life.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 0

If you have a cpap and sleep with someone else it's a bit of a major problem so I get that

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

How? Extremely loud uneven snoring is a major problem. How is a cpap worse?

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

My wife would much rather I wear a mask to bed then snore like a bear and toss and turn all night. Using a cpap has improved my marriage.

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

I wish my husband would get one. You can hear him snoring from another room.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

My SO denied it for years. I finally had enough and told him if he didn't schedule the appointment I would and I would drive him to the /1

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

appointment. It was ruining our marriage and neither of us was getting good sleep. Keep telling him to do it. Sleep studies are done at /2

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

From the day I started using a cpap it was fucking magic.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

After seeing how much it improved my sleep the first few nights, I honestly can't imagine sleeping without it anymore.

5 years ago | Likes 527 Dislikes 4

Same. I’m logging between 8-11 hours every night. And I don’t wake up with the worst sore throat.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I will warn you shortly after starting CPAP I got insomnia because my body wasn't used to sleep. Central sleep apnea 98% sleep interruption

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It took me a long time to get onboard, because I had so much trouble falling asleep with it on. Now I couldn't sleep without it.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Think the best part for me is not waking up in hypoxia episodes and not knowing anything. That's pretty damn neat.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I physically cannot nap without mine now. My body won't let me. "WTF you think you're doing? You need air, dumbass!"

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Do you have to sleep on your back when you wear it? I think my bf needs one but he can’t sleep on his back so he thinks it won’t help him

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Point out that maybe avoiding sleeping on his back is a symptom of the problem not an issue of comfort

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm betting he can't sleep on his back because of his apnea. Depending on the mask you can occasionally sleep on side anyway.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I have a full face and ill wake up a couple times to adjust. Still loads better sleep than I was getting.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I sleep on my side with the mask. Mine is the "cover the nose" style, not full face but not nasal pillows either.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I’ve been doing it for 2 weeks, and I’m not sure it’s working.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It took me around a month to "wake up", just suddenly opened my eyes, looked around, the entire year before was a hazy mess.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I’ll give it more time.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also, make sure the seal is tight. If the machine can't build up enough pressure it won't help.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I am trying to get my adenoids fixed and lost weight to see if that helps if not this is the next step.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Looking for advice,my father needs one but doesn’t wear it because when he wakes up with it his throat is so dry he can’t even drink water.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You need one with a humidifier. If it's still a problem the humidity needs to be raised.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I don’t think I’ve slept more than 5 nights without mine in the last 10 years.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I Literally had no idea what sleep was before my CPAP

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've worn it every night since 2005. It literally improved my life and I'm not looking back.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Tell me about it. My whole life changed. I was barely even a person before. I didn't even know it was wrong until I really woke up aftercpap

5 years ago | Likes 132 Dislikes 1

Developed apnea and went around a year or so sleep deprived, didn't "wake up" until about a month after getting the machine. Was amazing.

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Exactly my experience as well.

5 years ago | Likes 67 Dislikes 1

Wait till winter or pollin season. Humidity control with filtered air. No more sore throat or clogged sinuses. Also, winter can bundle (1

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Lol, just don't run out of distilled water or you're gonna have a bad time. Nothing like the smell of hot metal at 3am.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2) up under the covers caccooned up and have fresh air pumped to you. Makes my wife jealous.

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Is there any reason to go to a sleep clinic? I snore pretty loud. Can i just go buy one?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They ain't cheap and sleep study can help recommend a good style for you. But I don't see why you can't just buy one.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If your insurance wont cover one you can get one on amazon for half the price that you do from the clinics.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Then you bring it in with you for your sleep studies.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I took a long weekend with the boys before covid struck and forgot it at home. By the end of the first day I committed to staying up the 1/2

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

2/2 whole weekend because it was less miserable than trying to sleep.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Any tips on how to be comfortable sleeping with it on? My mom just got one and can’t sleep with it on

5 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

It takes some getting used to. There's three different masks, too. Possibly more but I only ever saw three.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thank you!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Honestly just keep at it. Every single night. Your body well get used to literally anything in time. But if you get angry and only try it

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

sporadically it will always seem impossible. Ask any soldier what you can get used to sleeping through. It'll come to her, and once your

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

body 'learns' that it gets real true rest with it it will become much much easier. Your body wants REM. You gotta teach it how to get it

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

if the hose is the issue try getting a slimline hose. the machine may need recalibration after! also try running the hose through her sleeve

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Thanks I have no idea about this thing but all this info really helps

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Try a different style mask, there's a few. Some are nose, some are mouth, some are both. Took Mum a few styles before she found one.

5 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

I personally like the AirFit P30i. The hose is on the top of the head, and the nasal pillows just fit. Tried the N30's and they leaked.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thanks!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I love my nasal pillows. Took me 2 weeks to not wake up all the time with it in. I'm so happy I stuck to it

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I’ll have to check that out. Thanks!

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As someone who tried, man I TRIED, but it's like having straws jammed up your nose.

5 years ago | Likes 136 Dislikes 2

Have you tried a full face mask?

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I tried 3 types and then 3 size combos of frame and nasal pillows before finding a setup that I could fall asleep and stay asleep well.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I hated all the nose ones. Only ones I can stand are full face

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Orthognathic advancement if you’re feeling ballsy

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There are other options, MAD (mandibular advancement device), Inspire implant device, palatal expansion.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As someone who has an inspire implant, it provides no where near the amount of relief my CPAP provides

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well poop. That's disheartening. :/

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, unfortunately none of the other alternatives have been able to come close to the efficacy of CPAPs yet :(

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This, and straps on your face and a fan pointing at you

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes, I tried my hardest to use it, but between the noise and the tubes getting in the way I just couldn't fall alseep

5 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 0

For the hose, there are holders similar to hospital IV bag holders. Makes dealing with the hose infinitely easier.

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Dreamwear nasal wisp works wonders for me

5 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

What dat?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Google is your friend

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

The air, the noise, the tubes, the straps, it's all quite distracting when you're trying to drift off to sleep.

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

True, but it is something you grow accustomed to quite quickly given how well you sleep.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It took me about 6 weeks to adjust. The first week, I only slept about an hour a night. It was awful. Now, I sleep better if it's on.

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Just as important, my wife sleeps better without me making weird ass throat and sinus noises.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Dont use that style then? My dad had to try quite a few styles before getting one that works for him but its just a face covering. No straws

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

'Felt like'. It didn't actually put anything up my nose, but the increased air pressure/flow felt like something had been jammed up there.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah - that's been my experience so far as well.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I know that I am just a person on the internet and I dont know everything you have tried, but that seems like something a doc can solve

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Have you asked your sleep specialist about increasing your ramp time? They can also make other, small comfort adjustments that can help

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Please look into Oral Appliance Therapy. My mom is one of many accredited sleep dentists that provide this alternative to CPAP.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

It's what I use.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Your mom can give my appliance oral therapy. Yeah I know, I couldn't resist saying it.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I’ve gone through around 11 masks before finding one that’s comfortable. There is a reason there are so many. Everyone’s face is different.

5 years ago | Likes 148 Dislikes 0

Now what if you roll like an crocodile at night how do you avoid wrapping the hose around your neck?

5 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

Get one of the hose holders that suspends of above your head. The hose rotates where it connects to your mask.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Weighted blanket.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I sleep like that. I’ve learned the adjust the hose around my head in my sleep as I turn. Took time to get used to but quality of life 100%

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Look into hose holders

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I use an AirFit P30i. the hose comes off the top of the head. I love it.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That was the trouble I had with mine, I move around a lot at night and kept popping the seal on there mask.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I thought tossing at night was one of the many symptoms of sleep apnea

5 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 1

I’m a side sleeper and used to turn all night long. Now I only seem to turn once during the night once I’m asleep. It seems to be at the 1/2

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

For me it’s the getting to sleep part that Im worried about for tossing and turning.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Survival of the fittest

News headline: Man strangled by CPAP mask. CPAP: Fuck around and find out.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I have an overhead arm similar to an IV bag holder that holds the hose above you. It keeps the hose out of my way really well.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Though I don’t crocodile roll. I’m a side sleeper but I always roll onto my back when I change sides.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What worked for you?

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It’s an odd one but it never moves out of place! And I side sleep. Best part is no straps. It anchors to your teeth with a mouthpiece. 1/2

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

. No strap CPAP mask for a side sleeper

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It took a little time getting used to sleeping with a mouthpiece but it works so well. My cpap stats from the machine are perfect 1/?
