First is a Malamute, second is a Husky. Either case don't shave them because they will get depressed and lose heat regulation.

Had to do that once to a roommate's dog that flopped down in roofing tar. Shear off tarred hair, then shave with a razor.

It's because it's a Husky. Some breeds you aren't supposed to shave. It keeps them warm in the winter and cooler in the summer. Shaving bad!
