Just my fucking luck

Long time lurker here, this is the story of my camping trip in the hospital! Had a gastroscopy Tuesday morning and woke up in the evening with excruciating pain in my chest and arms. Called an ambulance and we all agreed it was probably a scratch in my esophagus en some stomach acid came in there, but just in case we still went to the hospital for some blood-work.

After about an hour a nurse came, i was on the regular ER (big hospital) and i was now being moved to the heart ER and hooked up to a heart-monitor, i’m a 28 year old, healthy guy and this is not supposed to happen.

Finally a doctor came and explained that i had a higher value of a certain protein in my blood called Troponin (thank you commenters) and this happens when you get a heart infarct or an infection in the heart, i was a bit shocked but luckily they were all betting on the infection because an infarct is unlikely at my age.

Lots of blood taken, didn’t go well every time

Had an angiogram on Wednesday, usually they wait with this but i have people with heart problems in my family so i got priority, by far the most uncomfortable thing i ever have done, i could feel the tube all the way to my heart and i felt it when they put in the contrast fluid, this is not very common the surgeon told me so lucky me. They found out that my heart was perfectly healthy though so that’s a big plus 1.

Directly after the angiogram, wasn’t allowed to even hold my phone with that arm.

I learned to love my IV because i had a few pain attack in the days after, they last about 2 hours and i’ve been told they hurt the same way as heart attacks, got shot up with morphine, still hurt like crazy but at least i was able to handle it.

Now i’m on the heart department with a lot of cables on me, little high on painkiller and waiting for an MRI tomorrow. The consensus is that i have a heart-muscle-infection. Don’t know if that’s the correct word, trying to translate from swedish, but i will have no permanent damage from this and my heart is working perfectly. After the MRI they can also see how big the infection is and how long recovery time but it will be at least 1-2 months. I don’t care, i’m just happy i will be ok again soon! Little sorry for the selfie but it gives a good idea of what i have hanging on my neck the whole day.

Luckily i get a visit from my wife and 4-month old son everyday to brighten up everything!

Lastly, the dog tax! My Whippet called Dutch cozying with my son. #edit: so a heart affliction is needed to reach most viral, well i’m bored in the hospital and i heard tales that people send you stuff when reaching FP, my inbox is still empty so send me whatever! Not too gross please, still nauseous from the painkillers!
