started talking about shield maidens and said it wasn’t true. Fair enough, we don’t have 100% historical proof that shield maidens were real. I don’t understand your disconnect. I’m not implying anything. Go back and read from the top. My first comment was a clarifying one. The original person was talking about Vikings settling the world and becoming dominant INSTEAD of Christianity. Key word was dominant. So yes, I am fully aware they settled. But you cannot argue that they are dominant. Especially over Christianity right now. And clearly from how the original question was phrased, it’s a step further, the person was talking about
You said, the original point was what set Vikings apart. I corrected you. The original point that I was chiming in on, was what set Vikings apart from Christians specifically. I realize they had other similarities to other cultures around the world, but I wasn’t considering them because the question was, how would we be different if Vikings settled us instead of Christians.

Nothing to do with fighting, the women ran stuff when the men were gone. They could own property on their own and were treated much more like equals. The fighting bit is hit or miss but doesn’t play into the more important bits, the bits that would be relevant today

No, requires everyone to put their voice or vote in and elaborate methods of system control, transparency and oversight so the system can’t be corrupted. It’s a ton of work. Not impossible but unlikely. That doesn’t mean it’s not worth striving for because it is the best path we have to an actual functioning society that provides for everyone
Ok, so if McDs isn’t getting subsidized money for the vast majority of their workers, how are they able to afford about a 200% increase in labor wages? You’re not really suggesting that the article you submitted accounts for that, are you? We subsidize a shit ton in America. So by your logic, operating costs should be down across the board here and a 20$ minimum wage should be easy, right?

That article talks specifically about subsidizing pay for “high risk employees” or the unemployed. Not pay for everyone. McDonalds paying a 26$ wage to employees in Scandinavian countries isn’t subsidized for everyone.

Normally I would agree with you that it’s internet talk. Hence me saying “no one knows” which includes you. What I do know is I have a sister and cousin that WORK for Lucas films. And have heard from various people INSIDE the company that have corroborated some but not all of the speculation. That’s why I tried to offer a very lukewarm answer that explained without directly pointing fingers or saying either side was completely right. But you are clearly heated about this.
The words behind the scenes are, the better received something is, the more she had backed off during production. Producers can either back off or make what changes they want. So the range of good bad and in between we’ve seen from Disney has been a barometer for how much she’s meddled. According to people who are involved anyway. Bottom line is none of us have any honest answers and the ones that do are under an NDA. Just what I’ve heard and noticed since Disney has acquired SW

I totally agree about the outrage. The issue with Houston in particular is that it has a ton of paycheck to paycheck workers. Like, most. Also, GQP has taken steps to make voting harder there in general. Purging voter roles, getting rid of drop boxes, closing polling places. So lines are long. Those two things combined means it could possibly take hours to get through the lines and vote and a bunch of people can’t afford to miss 8+ hours of work to vote three times. No. They’re saying that the new provision says if enacted, the county will have to have a revote. They are fully aware that the likelihood of everyone in Houston voting on a second or even third day if it gets overturned again is slim. Meaning every revote gives more chance to the republicans of mitigating the democrat presence. It’s the tactics of fucking losers.
