It said purchasing power, not minimum wage adjusted for inflation. An average home in 1970 could be bought on a wage of roughly $3.60/hr, you now need roughly $60/hr to equal that same average. The value of the dollar may have gone down 80ish% from then, but that isnt telling the entire picture. Costs of a lot of goods and services have far outpaced inflation, especially housing.
He covered this in the first few seconds of the video. They are protesting against.
