The good news is that the CIA learned what the point of their existence is from sending Teddy Roosevelt's grandson to do that: Coups. It was basically the very first thing they did.

It's also used in the lubricants, the pesticides. It's used in the process to create fertilizers. Kerosene heaters for poultry. The plastics. We use a lot more oil in every part of the process than we'd like to admit.

#4 I've wondered if Kenobi was like a Jones/Smith type name or if he was just squatting somewhere.

It's the probability of any given set of numbers being correct.

While the content of the ad div would be blocked, they are using asynchronous javascript to create the div and attempting to load the content. So it's jumping around because they are attempting to show you the ad.

I fucking would laugh so hard if they did that.

It was literally a satire of the eugenics idea. I have zero idea how so many people missed that fact. It'd be like a movie coming out now satirizing a future world where everyone but the MAGA leave America and then people saying that there's an underlying message supporting MAGA.

#21 Saw one with a do not press button that some little girl ran up and hit that set the flash mob off. Much less stressful to have her be preplanned.

The origin of that term was basically "Do you need training on the job or before you get the job?" it was not that no skill was involved in the job.

#13 Technically correct. Computer Science is basically math and logic. You would want someone with some sort of electrical engineering degree to understand computers.

#2 Appeal with "A picture is worth a thousand words." I'd give at least partial credit as a teacher for that.

Anyone ever watch Star Trek? Hows about UBI instead of "Human Reserved Jobs". We do not live to work. AI isn't the threat. The threat is that the wealthy will be killed by the upset masses who are going to be forced to do manual labor to get fed.

Toblerone, the weird pyramid chocolate. You may have at least *seen* it, but yeah, unlikely to have tried it in the US.

I think of Ikea and meatballs. I am aware that Toblerone exists, but it's not really a thing in the US. Chocolate is maybe Belgian. We have Ghiradelli and other higher quality stuff here, as well as (within easy driving distance of me even) Dove, Mars, and Hershey's factories.

#6 I do sometimes get looks when I forget that furries being all around isn't just normal. I'm active in speedrunning and TTRPG communities, so really, just an everyday thing for me.
