All fair points, I was diagnosed at 50, so other mitigating factors indicate higher risks. As we age, the ability to cope with overload and humanity appears to decrease, increasing stress and melt downs. My data is largely anecdotal between younger and older autistics I know. Although this idea has been verified, anecdotally, by my mental health provider

Autistics are 8 times more likely to commit suicide. It is the leading cause of death, lowering the life expectancy to 58...I'm 56...
