Maybe put some "hidden" ones that test some of the concepts covered in class. Are you teaching lit, composition, research?
I'd suggest a pretty detailed rubric (even though I struggle writing rubrics sometimes). Let them score points for achievements. (1/2)

I've heard it's more that the cleaning cycle takes a while and people want it hurried or stopped so "broken" is the excuse (1/2)
