3 is really good & dark. 4 is unique, I enjoyed it, but it's widely disliked. 5 isn't that great. Didn't bother with 6 or later.

Wolf's Rain. It's my favorite anime of all time, and I never see it on these "anime you should watch" lists! It's beautiful.
Have you looked at Captain Earth? I liked the first episode enough but wondered if I should pursue.
