From a woman, that's a fab figure
I've flipped the narrative in my mind to I'm lucky to still have her at 10. She's happy (she's a dog and that's thier default) we take brilliant care of her, she is so loved, well fed and she rules the roost. It really helps.
I feel this to my core. My dog/best mate/child is 10 years old now. She has had bouts of ill health, orthopedic operations that have taken a good year to recover from and I massage her daily to help with her mobility. The thought of losing her fills me with dread, it was getting to the point that I was struggling to get to sleep without these pervasive thoughts choking me. My daughters dog then died recently, a stomach tumour at 7 years old and my friend's dog died at 9....
It's all beautiful, I love to have it in my home
