Both gif and jif are correct, because of rules dealing with there use in word structure.

Anyone can pronounce anything how they want; if the majority of the population doesn't accept it, then its considered wrong. Thats why (1/2)
Word structure plays a role in the acronyms pronunciation.
There's factors outside their control though. Its ultimately up to how the majority of the population pronounces it. You're not wrong though

I've only ever heard jay-peg, but I don't know. The p in jpeg isn't followed by an h, like in photographic; I assume that's why (1/2)

But even all my graphics design professors say gif with a hard G, so I do too.
I'm new to the graphics design industry & know relatively little on file formats. I've never even heard of .jif, thanks for the information.

It has to do with what "gif" stands for: Graphics Interface Format. Graphics, as you know, has a hard G, thus the gif-jif argument.
"Then" is used to denote an order of actions: "I'm going to run, then go to sleep."
"Than" is used to express contrast or exceptions. For example "The tortoise was slower than the hare."
Also, the crown and the eye. I recently learned the number above Dan Piraro's name is the number of things to look for in Bizarro comics.
