Quit one day after teaching 8th grade at a rough school. Teachers and students were on war footing, students had been stealing food off of teachers desks. On day two I walked into the principals office and told her she needed a drill sergeant, not a teacher. Handed my keys and resignation to her and left. Not a single regret, nor has any teacher I've told this disagree with my move.

Current teacher here. I've quit a day after being hired at schools because of their hostile environment. I wont go back to or work at any shithole school like that. The mental strain and damage it creates isn't worth it. We bare the burden of seeing of all societies ills and failures while being able to do nothing about it. The problems we see and face are so far beyond us. You did your best and you made the right call to save yourself. Rest and heal for now, sending positive waves your way!

Find a brick and mortar game store. Most host DnD sessions. It make take a while, but just show a lot and eventually you'll make friends.
