I was arranging knives on a knife block. I accidentally dropped one; it skidded across the floor and got stuck under one of the large industrial refrigerators. I knelt down and reached under the refrigerator to grab it. As I did, I heard a creak behind me – a door opening on stubborn hinges. I straightened up and turned around, still on my knees. A blast of cold air hit me in the face. I was staring into an open freezer, ice caked on the back of the door and the walls. There were bodies in the freezer. Old, decomposing bodies. Wrinkled, leathery skin peeling off yellowed bones. Bones that were oddly compromised, shattered, pulverized. Greenish mold clinging to the remains of brain matter cradled in cracked skulls. The putrescent smell of rotting flesh. I closed my eyes and screamed. And screamed and screamed and screamed. “Katy! What the fuck, Katy!” I heard Hamed’s voice, felt his hand on my arm, shaking me. I opened my eyes. The freezer was empty. Empty and turned off.
I'm genuinely baffled, would you mind explaining what you think I was saying?
Because what I was trying to say was that saying "I am a man and a feminist" with no more context is calling attention to that combination as if it is somehow noteworthy. That in turn reinforces the common narrative that feminism is about improving conditions for women in a 'gender war' framing. That women's rights and men's rights are opposite sides in a conflict, and that a man who is a feminist is a traitor.
I am a feminist.
That isn't at all what I was saying.
I get the sentiment but i think its unhelpful.
Someone who is a feminist 'because I am a woman' is only a feminist until it becomes inconvenient for them.
Similarly someone who is a feminist 'in spite of being a man' is not actually a feminist.
I get that you are likely just trying to call attention to the possibility of being a man and a feminist at the same time, but it's still reinforcing an unhelpful narrative and likely a big reason why a lot of people don't know what feminism really is.
Get a triple monitor setup for work. Keep it for the porn.
Similar physiological and emotional responses doesn't mean that the relative trauma is equivalent tho.
If hypothetically we measure that a 14yo girl who just lost her parents and brothers in an air strike is experiencing the same absolute life-defining trauma as a spoiled 14yo girl who wasn't given any Christmas presents because she had been a brat...
I know this is oversimplified to the point of being reductive. But should we treat those two situations differently?
I don't know where you are getting your idea of natural law from.
Do you see morality as something different or distinct from social behaviour?
I think, and most philosophers i can think of agree, that nature primarily moral. Basically the only thing I could see being mentioned as an example is predators killing for sustenance, and even then basically no predators are greedy or wasteful.
They didn't create their movements though. Their movements created them.
What we need is on the ground community organisation which can create the momentum and produce the 'leaders' that can become impetus for actual change. Though idolisation of individuals in the movements is a fairly regressive instinct.
And the whole question of how you do community organisation in the digital age, or whether that's even really possible, isn't one I have the answer to.
Sedative and disillusioning propaganda and misinformation.
Hyperreal nihilism.
Algorithmic alienation.
Obfuscation of every system.
Ubiquitous surveillance.
Sometimes it can really feel like we don't stand much of a chance, and we have to remember that for every one of them there are 10000 of us.
They have been doing alright. Better than expected in many respects.
However right now they are in full crisis mode. The blockade tightened recently and the country is actively being strangled.
Me and my sister lives in a housing union. She recently decided to have her toilet seat replaced, so she called in to have the union's service guy do it. Before she got home less than 3 hours later she had a new toilet seat. No cost, not for the toilet seat or for the work.
The union is non-profit and owns about 25% of the residences in our city. This setup should be the norm.
They claim it saves money because "it's essentially like having an officer stationed at each of those locations we have Flock cameras".
They try to slip the assumption past us that we should have police officers stationed everywhere, that this is both desirable and good, and that the only reason we don't have that already is because it's too expensive.
Technofascism. They want to use technology to gain total control of societysince they will be in control of that technology.
"Indoctrinated since birth.", "Hateful ugly race"
Are they hateful because they have been indoctrinated?
Are they hateful because of their race?
Are you aware that you sound hateful and ugly when talking about race in this way?
Ironically this is where tariffs would be useful. As well as some regulations on trade pra8.

Are your feelings for those people stronger than for the people who actively support Trump and his policies?
If so why? Do you feel betrayed? Do you feel like even though it is ostensibly a free democracy those people somehow owed their votes to the Democrats?
I'm not American, so even though this stuff affects me quite a lot, I don't get a say. But this attitude baffles me.
Are we absolutely sure about that?
Quantity is a measure of success in this regard, and success implies quality, maybe?
My years of research has led me to the conclusion that this guy has been in a LOT of roles and been doing this for a long time. He qualifies for the "star" label by whichever criteria you prefer.

I mean... It's obviously a market, right? As in there is competition, some senators position themselves as the discount option, some are more premium, or only sold in packs of 6 at a time.
I'd honestly be surprised if there isn't a list floating around lobbyist circles.
For now.
Trump started the process in 2016, but didn't have enough supporters around him. So now he's having to speedrun the process.
Putin spent a fairly long time taking smallish steps and building support along the way.
Trump is too obviously incompetent to be a strongman leader for most people, and he's having to sprint through the process.
That doesn't mean he won't succeed, but be will be way less popular along the way. Which we can hope proves fatal to a populist.
And even the concept of hot was is tied up in the system's logic. Their sexuality is itself a commodity, so being hotter actually means something like: having more value as a sexual commodity.
Sex and sexuality becomes a performance; how well can you mold yourself to fit the ideal defined by the system.
All the while people get more and more alienated from anything like normal relationships, they only understand the weird facsimile the system constructs. Thus loneliness becomes an epidemic.
Hot dog is burger?
Absolutely not.
Until they get unionised and regulated the industry will be way too prone to exploitation.
It's psychologically and physically hard, often dangerous, and rarely recognised by the legal framework around labour.
It is definitely work, and highly beneficial to society at that. But calling it legitimate implies a level of recognition it doesn't get.
Even if that sentence is meant aspirationally, I fear the approach is flawed.
I'm not saying it isn't propaganda.
But what do you think backup energy systems for a hospital consists of? Backup generators require fuel as much as the power plant does.
There are videos of the streets of Havana with not a since gas powered vehicle in sight, stories of massive blackouts, and oil still isn't being allowed into the country.
It's an island nation, it isn't completely self-reliant, few nations are really. The blockade cuts off supplies and people die. It's s a straight line.
Every 4 years you have to choose between conservative neoliberal oligarchy and Fascism.
And if you don't choose it'll be your fault when [the opposite of the current speaker's own position] happens.
Also we will likely just alternate between the two regardless.
This is what we call democracy and it's the best way we have found to get representation for everyone™.
Sex is treated as a commodity(thanks capitalism).
Women are treated as if their value is derived from their ability to provide sex to a man. So when nudes are leaked... Well a commodity which is easily accessible has less value.
Consumption is largely decoupled from morality(thanks capitalism). So when sex is a commodity paedophiles aren't engaging in a morally reprehensible act, they are consuming a scarce and therefore high value commodity.
It really felt like Iran was getting closer to finally getting rid of the theocracy. And now that's set back another 30-50 years.
