As time goes on and especially as things continue to develop as they are, the more I realize that most of the systemic problems either trace directly to, or were strengthened by, Reagan. I mean, he certainly didn't MAKE Iran what it was, that was the UK and the CIA, but he sure as shit strengthened it!

I worked a Gallagher show like 20 years ago. He... was not doing well. It sort of devolved into a weird therapy session about his brother stealing all of his money and the costs of fame. He broke down crying briefly.He also tried to blame us for not advertising that it wasn't a "smashing" show, but his people provided the marketing packet. It was an odd experience.

So, ignoring the fact that casting to race or body type only really matters if the race or body type of the person is integral to the story, (Yes representation is important too, but I'm taking the "purity of the story" argument at face value) your biggest issue is based on an INCREDIBLY subjective metric? She isn't called that because everyone on the ships thought she was hot, the whole situation is because one dude who commanded a bunch of ships thought she was hot. The rest is just hyperbole.

pfffft. ALOT has to be done to a pitbull to get them to react violently. Their natural disposition consistently comes out as having a LOWER tendency towards violence than average. They just have some physical traits that make them desirable to douchebags that treat them like shit. Anyway, If a dog's tail is wagging they are TYPICALLY playing. That playing IS with the assumption that your skin is as thick and loose as theirs though, so if you aren't used to bigger dogs, you can still get injured.

VERY much in his territory. I was like "Are we friends or is this going to get... awkward" and he started wagging his tail and my sphincter unclenched.

I always think of this one Hawaiian I worked with. Happiest and friendliest man I ever met. When someone started aggressively cursing at him and got into his face, his smile never wavered as he leveled the guy with one hit. He stayed with the guy until he got his wits back to make sure he was okay. One of my favorite people.

Yep, also, we are falling back into the trap of his first term where people are convinced he is an evil genius with a subtle plan. He is not. And neither are the people around him. He does everything he does because he is too fucking stupid to know that isn't how anything works and his pissant backers are either too stupid or too spineless to point it out. So they attempt to pretend this IS how it works and always has been. I assure you, none of the subtle things you think are happening are.
There is no court injunction for this because there is no pathway for them to DO that. There is nothing for them to misinterpret, and since THEY don't run the damn elections, them saying "nuh-uh, they are cancelled" is completely meaningless. There is literally no avenue for him to do anything. There is no way to do that by force or law. What would "cancelling the election" even LOOK like? Martial law in California? ALL of California? It is literally logistically impossible.
To be VERY clear. I am not saying they are above TRYING that, I am just saying that attempting that would be SO unprecedented and obviously outside of their authority that any attempt to actually ENFORCE it would entirely invalidate the legitimacy of their governance in a legally justifiable way that would have even many of his supporters enraged (like they were when they floated banning firearms at protests)Nor am I suggesting we don't push back if it were to pass. VERY MUCH THE OPPOSITE.
I mean, the thing is this isn't even a "they can't justify this" thing, there isn't any mechanism or anything they could even cite to try to misrepresent the situation into justifying. The federal government isn't even involved in if and how elections are run. That is managed entirely by the state, so even if they SAID the elections are cancelled, California would just run them anyway... so AT BEST he could tell his little cult followers not to vote. and.... sure?
Yeah, none of this is how our government actually works. And if he steps that far out of legitimacy then other options that have not yet been justifiable, will become necessary. They would not be prepared for the shitstorm that would produce and enough of his chicken shit staff and lickspittles would see the writing on the wall and bail on him to resolve the situation relatively quickly. Cowards will always act like cowards.
