Maybe miscommunication here. They changed their email signature, clothing, and all that jazz. So they weren't hiding being trans, all they did was put people like me from their inner circle in the spot of taking the brunt of the backlash. It's kinda uncomfortable to explain to multiple people a day what happened. Borderline non-consensual and a significant burden I didn't sign up for. Very different than somebody still dead-presenting and hidden
To the people who didn't understand trans-ness, sure. But it was most of our co-workers just because they didn't know. Basically the whole office had no idea who we were talking about, or we're deadnaming them. So maybe yes let them be confused but when the person stops getting invited to meetings or asked their opinion because people don't even know who they are, that's an issue professionally
But if you're like somebody I know who only came out to some people but still changed email signatures, it's confusing for everyone else
