Well they risked their lives, I believe a little compensation was in order.
The button does light up red, it just needs a 12v power supply and fitting 8 AA a batteries in there is tricky
it glows red when you put enough batteries in there, but 12v means fitting a lot of batteries in a very small space
Yep! he took 7 years making his own replica, and he made a "working" one for his new show.

You're right, but to fit in the electronics that's where I had to mount it. its a minor enough issue that it doesn't bother me honestly.

I would LOVE to but i'm not convinced there's that much demand for it (at least not in the UK) to leave an otherwise stable, well paying job

I'm just a hobbyist really, I just started by watching things like @mistersavage one day builds and master and apprentice on youtube.
It actually starts at 99, I just changed it to 45 for the pictures. Anyway its software controlled so changing the starting value is easy.

Also they come un-weathered, I wanted mine to look like it's been through hell. Props are always better if the look of them tells a story.

I had that thought too while building it. I guess it's so the ammo counter is facing the camera as the actor is holding it.

Sadly no, that part of it is all solid and doesn't move. It does reset the ammo counter if you take out the mag and put it back in though.

No kidding! 3D printing has changed my life. That being said I do put a LOT of work in to make 3D printed parts look as real as possible.
They were built on Tommy guns since the muzzle flash looked good on film. So since I'm in the UK and guns are kinda a no-no, not really.

I don't think it has one? I think it's more of an "I need to kill something in that vague direction" kinda gun.
