In my experience Japanese people are more patient than anything else.

When I can't read a thing but I can recognize the food item and to point. Or even get someone to translate the menu if the demand is high
If the place you work doesn't already, I would recommend printing out menus with pictures so they can point. It has really saved me 1/2
Try programs like Quizlet and Memrise if you haven't already. They are free and extremely helpful :)
From what I learned in the American school system is that there is a lot of repetition. Ive learned US history 15 times by now probably.
Gotta get that Kanji repetition in... ????

I had that same experience here in Japan. Try to look up some Korean food you like and try making it yourself. 1/2
A semester and make little effort to even try and order food in Japanese. It's really cringy when it happens. 2/2
