In New Zealand, there is a successful, unique and well proven sports competition (Est 1904). It exists within a national competition and all competing games are within that format. No extra matches are needed. It is called the Ranfurly Shield. Attendance for these games is over 50% up on the non-shield games. The rules are simple. Win at home and you keep the Ranfurly Shield. Draw at home and you keep the Ranfurly Shield. Lose at home and you lose the Ranfurly Shield and the Ranfurly Shield now goes to the Challenging Team Auckland had the Shield initially (As national champions). Their first home game was to Wellington. Wellington Won. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ranfurly_Shield_2010%E2%80%9319 shows the recent history. What if this format was used in other countries and in other sports? What if the naming rights for these competitions were sold and the proceeds went to Charity? What if the holding team at the end of the season got to choose that charity? What if you helped me by getting this message to the front page? What if? #Whatif
