I have to confess that this is the first time I actually noticed that in the Sun logo. That's awesome!

Surprise non-sarcastic answer to this! Believe it or not, there's actually a thing for this process. It's called a "nocturnal" or a star dial. The version I got uses the north star and two stars in the Big Dipper. It has a dial used to set the month and week on it, and after sighting the North Star in the middle, the arm on it can be pointed at the two of the stars on the "cup" of the Big Dipper. That can tell you the time at night!

This is a guess, but I think it's a thing similar to what's used at a dentist's office to hold your lips back during a procedure. That way the air blowing up for the effect would just puff his mouth open like that without him having to actively hold his lips like that for multiple takes.

My sincerest condolences for her loss, and may his memory be a blessing. When I stepped foot in my grandparents home after my gandma died... yeah. Hold onto the good memories and make the most of the time you spend with those you love. Relish the memories of places like this when you can.
