That's why the judge, in his ruling, also urged the SCOTUS to revise existing law so that this sort of thing *wouldn't* be legal anymore.
In his defense: his job isn't to change the law, only enforce it. He actually specifically urged the SCOTUS to change the law so that this *would* become illegal. He appears to be a good one.
