If only there were some system where people could collectively make an informed decision on who to place in these policy making positions . A democratic election if you will, or like an institutional system by, and for the people, not the profiteers.

People don’t realize how difficult it is to keep information flowing to all levels of organization. I can see low level managers and chiefs getting uppity about a private pilot, because of safety and command authority, completely outside the communication loop. That said, there’s policies for using civilian resources and volunteers - hopefully they’ll pick b up on lessons learned.
