Is that why dogs have to turn around three times before going to sleep?

As a Linux user, this is my cue to annoyingly say that Linux doesn't have this problem! It's perfectly capable of deleting a file even if something else has it open.

Something I noticed when I went to a salt flag: you can only barely see it in the video, but that white gravel-ish salt he's standing on? It's all squares!

I believe it's San Marino, also in Italy.

Isn't the Australian senate based on states? 12 senators per state, two per territory.
The difference is that we have more senators per state than the US does, so there's less of a winner-takes-all effect.

The versions I've seen tend to have a third person explain the problem, or a sign or something --- Cecilia Dart-Thornton does it that way in one of her books if I remember right.

Well, Lord Vetinari made good use of one...

Is that the door of Life, or Death?

#22 Aside from Hugin and Munin, who's stopping you? There's no Académie Anglaise setting the rules of English

Isn't Woden a suburb of Canberra?

That is a good question. Hmm...

I do have an inner mono/dialogue, but it's certainly not faster than speech — I can speak faster than I can come up with words to say. (If I have a poem memorised or something I can go very fast — otherwise I end up having to stop to think of the next word.)

Isn't it the heat the sanitises?

Really? The vibrant car colours feel more Photoshop to me, like if someone just copied them out of a bunch of car ads.

I feel like AI, generating the whole image at once, would use a more consistent palette.

Wouldn't he just eat his way out?

What, no barratry?

What were the first impressions of? Are the women looking at a dating profile photo the man's scrubbed up for, or just a random man walking down the street wearing whatever?

*I have seen a psychiatrist for a diagnosis. They didn't formally diagnose me, but they did say I could tell people I'd "recently been diagnosed with autism".

I understand using the correct terminology is important to many autistic people, hence this asterisk.

I may or may not be autistic*

I was at an event once where they had pins for "neurodivergent", "grieving" and other such things (there were nicer ones too; I just can't remember those). I considered taking a "neurodivergent" pin to help others understand where I was coming from — but the person running the stall couldn't explain what it meant, so I decided it wouldn't help.

I _think_ the wax is supposed to preserve it somehow -- maybe stopping it losing water, or stopping insects or something.

I don't think it's branding because they don't have any other markings on them (not even a sticker); they're just sold as "banana, red tipped". But honestly, I really don't know.

Fairy bread and hagelslag?

Aren't those just the English?

I thought that, but I bought a pair of Solovairs and the uppers wore out in about 12 or 18 months. My next pair were Docs, and the soles lasted two years; I've resoled them and the uppers are still going strong.

That said, the Solovairs were patent leather and I was told that wears out faster --- but if that's true it's a _massive_ difference from the greased leather on the second pair.

What boots are you wearing that last that long? I walk about 7k steps per day and my boots are losing their grip after about two years.

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It does depend on the boots. I had a pair of Doc Martens re-soled last year for about half what they cost new.

Here in Australia you periodically get red-tipped bananas. They're basically the same as a normal Cavendish, except the last two inches or so have been dipped in red wax --- I think they're supposed to be organic or something, but I'm not really sure.

A hyphen, as in forty-niner, is of course perfectly acceptable.

It's not a recursive acronym? MAC = MAC And Cheese?
