The whole "The uncanny valley implies" drives me up a wall. We have always (and still do) have something that looks just like a real human but isn't: corpses.You can even see it in how people try to describe something that triggers the uncanny valley, they'll almost always say the face and eyes don't look right, the eyes are glassy or dead looking. Our brain recognizes ahuman that is either already dead or horribly ill and possibly contagious and wants us to get the fuck away from it.

Yeah, but the popularity of things like crystals, incense and herb burning has been a net positive for the tribes though. Sure, some of the cultural significance is lost once it falls under the umbrella of New Age beliefs, but more people learning and practicing these things makes them less likely to disappear not more.These people aren't invading tribal lands and stealing sage they're buying it from stores that also carry books about the traditions and where they come from.
How are those two things any different? Burning herbs to get rid of negative spirits/energy and promote healing/calm are incredibly common in most cultures. It doesn't become a sacred religious rite when someone of native descent does it but a stupid superstition because "ignorant white people" started doing it.

Yeah, I work for Target and keep an eye on this kind of thing, they had above average losses via shortage, but not enough to warrant closing the store. All of the Targets happened to be in buildings that weren't accepting "exceptionally high theft rates" as a justification to lower or keep the same rent. The rent went up, Target left. Pure coincidence though, I'm sure it was definitely all the "unprecedented levels of theft".
