I was raised to question everything, and to question it twice as hard if I want to agree with it, especially if people around me tell me I should agree without all the details. This sometimes comes off as argumentative and difficult, but it’s really to consider all the possibilities, perspectives, and facts to understand things. Yeah, I am still occasioanlly wrong, but this “question everything” skill is also why I’ve been good at what I do. I’ve been an auto mechanic to working in NASCAR pit crews, restored classic cars and built engines, been a certified forklift driver, and today work in IT working on both hardware and software. And yes, I still do all my own work on my cars, including modifying software and parts upgrades to make it work and feel the way I want it to be. I wish more people questioned what they are and hear lately before jumping on certain things. Anyway… I come from a history of unsung heroes. Those people where you don’t know their names but you use things they came up with or changed to make your life easier in some way. It could be big, it could be small, and it could be a tool or device in your house with a feature you didn’t know was there, or a subtle but helpful feature added to something that’s been around for ages. It could be physical pr code, but the things we have done are out there and you’ve probably seen or used some of them. Yeah, this is a hard week. We get our bonus and promotion disclosures starting September 1st. And a lot of people are being promoted to ‘customer’in their disclosure meetings. Sad.
Thats inline with what a therapist said to me long ago: Many people never grow up mentally past a certain age. For many, they revert to behaving like spoiled infants well into their elderly years, many live their daily lives playing the same adolescent mind games they did as teenagers, and a lot of them also revert to more tribal response than thinking, much like a child reacting based on emotion rather than logic until the day they drop dead.

The funny part: We are reminded daily AI is only as good as its training data, which can introduce bias, malicious code, and of all things, introduce someone else's intellectual property. So yeah, use AI to replace people.. only for that one mistake that burns your company to the ground in the end.
Reminds me of the PlayCable add-on for the Intellivision allowing it to download games over your cable TV line (see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayCable). Futuristic idea - but not ready for the masses. Too many limitations, high cost, and not developed with the future in mind with future demands factored in. It died before most people had computers, much less online access.
Yep, also check for local places that restore/repair old units. There's a place in Charlotte called Downtown Radio Service that had old units in stock, fully repaired, ready to go. Not sure if they still do, but the guys there know where to find exactly what you're looking for.

Any time an insurance company denies a claim, appeal it and request the names of the medical professionals involved in the decision. BCBS did similar to me, but as soon as my local doctor appealed on my behalf requesting the names of the medical professionals involved, they immediately approved it and that was the end of it.
The house my parents bought in 1978 would have taken 14,717 hours at minimum wage to buy. That same number of hours today would only cover $106,700. Show me 2 bedroom/2 full bath houses today for that rate. Not mobile home, not modular, and not cheap materials - real brick, and in a decent neighborhood. Ain't happenin today.

The hospitals here have a tv screen displaying the room number, patient family contact info, upcoming medicatio, currently active staff for the patient, etc., everything is digital for the chart using Epic or Klara , and has been so here since at least 2019 when my dad passed. Even the VA hospital here is more up to date than that photo.
