Respectfully to both of you chiefs (I hope ya both were, or else ya's just misters/misses to me), as enlisted Army personnel I disagree. 1/
What he did was completely uncalled for on the scope of the release of information he put out, dozens without reasonable need-to-know.
Acting doesn't have to involve violating OPSEC. He could have moved his troops off-ship first, then explained himself later. It's his ship.

I wouldn't call the unsafe handling of OPSEC an act of martyrdom. There are channels and departments for these very circumstances.

He's potentially highlighted a massive safety and national security vulnerability in one of the most crucial theaters of operation...
