1. It's better than fossil fuels by orders of magnitude, since that waste we store in our air, water, and farmland.
2. If we lined up all of the nuclear waste we've ever made on a football field, we wouldn't even be to the 10 yard line.
3. Modern reactors, like ones that exist in France already, are closed loop, meaning they can actually reuse a lot of that waste.
4. While we should concurrently work towards solely renewables, we are several decades from that being viable.

Only when we fail at unified strategy and foreign policy do we lose.
You're correct. In some cases, like Kuwait, we went to war with another country (Iraq) to defend them. Kuwait definitely believes we won the Gulf War.

Despite the fact we shouldn't have been there, we defeated the insurgency in Iraq; ISIS is more or less non-existent there and they are trending up in quality of life. We won nearly every actual military conflict in Afghanistan. The only thing that held us back was a lack of political will to create and stick to a plan.
