I am a modern hobbit. I think that covers it.

It's crazy how the main languages we hear before the age of two impact how we talk for the rest of our lives. I know a really good example; Korean dude who has lived in Canada since he was 3, doesn't know Korean worth shit, still has the phonetic markers of Korean even though he only speaks English

Yeah diamonds have intrinsic value because they're necessary for a lot of modern industrial processes. Way less than the jewelry value though

Yes they're amazing. I plant hummingbird food plants (and put up feeders if it gets cold enough for those to die) for our year round resident hummingbirds outside my home office window and see all the dramatic ass violence. They also get pissy with me if I take a few of their 100000000 fucking flowers

Scoop her legs with one arm at the knee and tilt her back against your other arm. My partner is 2 inches taller (6') and 50 pounds heavier than me and he still gets uppies

770 in the bed is not that much. You start hitting that with basic garden projects

My whole ass state, actually (Washington). Minimum wage is the minimum, no exceptions. Tips are extra, not a way for your boss to rob you and dodge labor laws

Fuck, that's awesome

Don't gift animals is true for like, don't get a dog for your friend or partner who is like "oh now I have a dog I didn't expect." It's fine if say, your kid or partner really wants one, everyone's on board, and you pull the trigger and pay for it as a gift. My roommate's mom got him a dog for Christmas by paying the shipping costs (over a grand during COVID) for the dog he'd been on a waiting list for 3 years for. That's fine because he had already decided to get the dog.

Keeping meeting notes and then searching/summarizing them later. Finding trends across 200 tickets in less than 5 minutes so I can look it over and refine it. It's useful when it stays in its lane as a tool to cut the tedium (and hours) out of some human tasks, with a human brain guiding it at start and finish.

Yeah I'll admit it's great for "when did Jane and I discuss x in our meetings and what did she say about it?" And it'll pull the date and the part of the transcript it took. Easier than remembering a detail from a meeting 4 months ago that wasn't relevant enough for me to take notes on back then

Yeah in my state they're classifying them as motorcycles if they can go over certain speeds with assist only

Denying us transition related care starts to qualify under 1, 2, 3, and the whole "protect the children from transitioning" crap falls under 4/5

It's known and proven that most of us and up suicidal if we can't transition. The hormones my body makes without intervention cause me something akin to mental torture and I spent over 30 years wanting to be dead. Now I'm happy af.

There's already mass produced solar farm racks for sheep to walk under etc. Super common already

I have a catahoula and it's like having a 10yo kid in the house.... Who is also a lawyer. Smart enough to keep you constantly on your toes but also emotionally a child. You have to convince him to do what you want, they don't just do stuff because you said so. They understand you but have their own ideas of what's fun

That's awful! It's really a lottery of birth. I was born in Washington State so it's a form you get notarized and mail in saying "yep, this is me and I was assigned the wrong sex at birth, please change to m, ty!" I wish that for everyone

My buddy works in prior auths and it's usually because the doctor didn't include some specific info line "oh yeah they have cancer"etc

You could like, train them to not go on the counters. My cat was absolutely not allowed up there and we trained him out of it because it's nasty

It's the biggest compliment I can get tbh. It makes me feel like I've won being a man when women I don't know super well still decide I'm the guy to leave their drinks and purse with. I'll die before I let someone fuck with it too. Especially in today's world, I love being a "safe man" when there's so many horrible men out there

It's what right wing churches teach as the entry point to takeover. At least since the 90s when I was a kid, and I know they still do

This is really fun tbh. Off duty service dogs are great for it. Get really baked and let the dog decide where you're going.

Lost our cat in November to jaw bone cancer that looked like this. It was heartbreaking

Yep I have crows near me about the size of ravens and have to use their calls, lack of beard, and beak shape to know they're crows

Our neighboring city has implemented this and it's worked extremely well so far. Our sheriff's dept isn't set up for it the same way so they actually.... Trained the officers to radio in services and then just make sure everyone is safe until the experts arrive. The new sheriff came in post COVID and Jan 6th from a background in crime reduction through community investment and social services and it's a nice change that's encouraged more diversity in rural areas

The most eye opening documentary I've ever seen was (not agreeing with the action itself) interviews with folks looking to suicide bomb and the celebrity around it. And why they do it. Basically that people who have had all options removed to fight back, continually backed into a corner over and over for generations will fucking snap and do literally anything to make their tormentors pause or even just hurt if they don't feel they can be stopped anymore. It's rough af.

I've literally never bought berries like that. The farm stands just have a big roll of plastic bags for em

A big ol bag full of water just doesn't really sit right tbh, if you do need to buy berries. I wouldn't really call it a package

I have and it's weird

It's amazing, I've had a version my partner's family has been making for generations (since they lived in the Netherlands) that they call green potatoes
