I'm not sympathetic, but that is why they voted like that. They don't understand the consequences of voting for him the first time, they weren't paying attention to the details. From speaking with some of them, many of them are simply too dumb to understand policies and are easily led by the jangling keys approach that right wing influencers have mastered. They don't want a dictatorship, that's scary, but they also have no idea Trump was starting one.
And the main reason ghettos suck is because options to leave are restricted. I'm pretty sure Mamdani is considering public transportation and employment opportunities when he's deciding on these locations to avoid the issues that doomed the projects, he could be mayor for the next 30 years if he doesn't cut corners.
I think part of the brilliance of the show is that I spent the first two episodes wondering if I was actually going to ever really like anybody, or just watch them suffer... and then by the second half, yeah, I liked basically everyone. And watched them suffer.
It's honestly fascinating how convergent Japan and the British isles are in many different ways considering how far apart their cultural lineages diverged over the distance. Geography will have it's say, apparently.
I spent a couple of months around Chicago, and I genuinely don't recall any of the signature weird things I've heard about, but I did get a sense they enjoyed fucking with people from out of state and that might be a part of it. The alternative is they actually drink Malort and... why?
Assuming you're not from the US, it means that they were made to Pledge Allegiance To The Flag every morning, their history classes consisted solely of all the good thing the US did, and they don't hear any news that isn't run through Fox. It means the propaganda worked.
And the trees are burning down at a rate that exceeds our ability to plant new forests that will also burn down. The only thing that actually mattered was reducing our usage of fossil fuels, and we collectively, despite individuals screaming at us to stop, increased it even as alternatives were available. If humanity survives 2100, those future generations will HATE us for how we stole their planet.

There ARE national/international organizations that they fall under, the problem is that those organizations are simply reflections of the churches underneath them, and if accountability is on the menu, then they DO schism and form new organizations or go independent.
I'm cheering this with all of my heart- I WANT all of MAGA to think they already voted in the election and won. We're close enough to November that they might not think any new election is even happening. And make sure and be clear to everyone involved that this candidate was personally endorsed by Trump, because his popularity really does keep going down even with all the truly stubborn bastards out there.
