Yet another carrier here. This. It's unfortunate, but even having fragile/do not bend written doesn't guarantee any careful handling, since a lot is machine sorted and what isn't, is scanned and thrown without so much as a glance. Most of the damage that occurs to packages happens well before it gets to me. That being said, if I see "do not bend," I won't. It depends on your carrier.
I once had a resident walk out to collect his mail from me. Before I could look up from sorting, I heard "it's okay he doesn't bite" right as his unleashed dog ran up and bit me in the hip.
