Good for you! Keep your eye on the prize. Keeping your wife won't get you sober. Get sober for yourself and the rest will follow. It takes time and effort, but all things worthwhile do. Find someone who has some good years of sobriety to help you out. I credit AA with getting me sober 33 years ago, and I am grateful every day. I am also an atheist.
Yeah - my high school best friend died from a heart attack on a flight a number3 of year ago. He was also an active alcoholic and had decided to stop taking his antidepressants without medical advice. They said he died of a heart attack, I know he died as a result of addiction. In 33 years of sobriety I have seen a lot of addicts die of "heart attacks", "hypothermia" etc. I know what they died from.

Yeah - many people in AA are screwed up - no big surprise. 😂 I am 33 years sober and credit that to AA, even as an atheist. You don't need a deity to work the program successfully, plus there are a small minority of people you can relate to there - just like in the real world.

That is what struck me in Egypt. So many generations involved in the building of so many of those tombs.
I quit Jan 25, 2002. I have NEVER wanted to have another cigarette. I actually had to go back and look up the day I quit, as I don't think about it. You can do it too. For me, the key was I quit when I was really ready to quit.

Yup - same here. The GP recommended my mother take Thalidomide for her morning sickness in early 1962 in Canada and she refused. I have thanked her.

I am 33 years sober because of AA, and also an atheist. I tried many times to "think my way into sobriety" and it almost killed me. I needed help to change my way of life and way of thinking so that it was no longer necessary for me to drink. Just stopping alcohol was never the answer for me, I needed to address the root cause.

SO much money pouring in! /sI really wanted to make a meme making fun of some of the "infographics" I saw showing tariff money flying into the US. It was going to have a bunch of arrows with dollar signs coming from all over the USA going directly to Washington DC.
It is a really weird feeling snorkeling in the ocean and seeing an iguana feeding 15 feet below you. Also - seeing them on shore blowing concentrated saline from their noses so they can get rid of excess salt from eating saltwater algae. No wonder Darwin was blown away by this place.

Bought my first computer in Winnipeg on Dec 22, 1995 and spent $2,414.52 which was a HELL of a lot of money to me at the time. Wish I could remember the specs...
Rush is butyl nitrite, which used to be (maybe still is?) sold in head shops back in the seventies. Amyl nitrite was used medically for angina patients to dilate blood vessels and it was discovered that you could get a brief high from inhaling it as well. As it was a controlled substance, someone came up with butyl nitirite which was legal and did the same thing. I made it in chemistry class in high school in the late seventies and used to keep a test tube in my locker. 😂
