He had struggled with addiction for 20 years, not 2 years. He was a musician in middle/high school, not as an adult. His addiction and life long struggle started early in his life.

I spent two years building this armor from cardstock paper & bondo, and yesterday the new exhibit at the Museum of Pop Culture in Seattle, WA opened and my armor is included!! The armor will be on display for the next two years, and I feel SO PROUD. 🫶🫶🫶🫶

You can see my hair in braided pigtails in the video where I am jammin next to the puma. I have hair almost down to my waist, and with the articulating visor there was no way to cram it into the helmet lol

Not a waste of time at all! These are the convos I love the most! So after the blue metallic paint, I absolutely did use a satin clear coat spray paint. The resin underneath the blue paint was to really make the base of the armor as unbumpy and smooth as absolutely possible so the blue paint and clear coat would look like metal as much as possible
I started in about June of 2022. But it was (no joke) nearly an every single day after work and every single weekend full time project. I didn’t realize how much work pepakura is to build and put together. 3D print or Eva foam would had been 1/4 of the time

It is totally a metallic rattle can paint, and then I used a flexible acrylic paint to highlight ever edge of the armor to make it pop kind of cartoon style! You can see the helmet outlines really well in here - https://www.instagram.com/p/CpF_3OepR-v/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
3D printing would take about 1/4 of the time, because when you use pepakura, you are cutting out all of the pieces of the armor out of printer paper, and then you are hot glueing those pieces together after you fold them (similar to oragami) check out the link here if you are interested, this is one of my thigh pieces with just the paper layer - https://www.instagram.com/reel/ChkOYH5FwS6/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
So pepeakura is the process. Essentially this armor is made out of folded up printer paper, not Eva foam. The reason it looks so shiny / sturdy is because instead of foam, which is flexible, this is completely rigid (similar to 3D print). I used the same process a body shop uses for a car that has bumper damage. I used resin to harden the printer paper, and then bondo to build up the strength, then resin to make it shiny - with lots and lots of sanding in between.

It’s actually pretty much all pepakura… the helmet I 3D printed, which was my first print I ever did. I can see why people like to 3D print armor pieces, it was so clean☠️

Also this entire thing cost less than $600, including all the electronics that were purchased and built into it. That’s not a small number, but it was spaced over the 8 months it took to build.
It’s made out of pepakura, which is hand folded printer paper that I resined and bondo-Ed. helmet is the only thing I 3D printed. There’s also a ton of electronics that I programmed and built the circuits myself. I’m actually pretty proud of this thing. And if it was 3D printed, I would still be proud, it’s cool as shit. Am Spartan.

That would be amazing!! Honestly, it took me more than 200 hours to sand this damn thing lol. My right arm is now incredibly buff compared the my chicken left arm.
I was not inside it during the fire haha! It probably took me a thousand hours? But I also had to redo a few pieces because I messed up, and I had never built anything out of pepakura so there was a learning curve. Also I pretend to know how to write code so that takes forever in QA lol
All jokes aside. Twice. Twice I set it on fire. I actually have a breakdown of hours and such, I did my best to keep track for the competition. Ultimately I started the build summer 2022, and finished (barely) march 1 2023
