If growing up in a very religious community taught me anything, its that they always try to frame anything bad that happens on the 'other'.

Convenience is the largest driving force. Having several options in this case wouldnt necessarily be a good thing imo.
Yeah I wouldnt want to work for more than 40hrs even if Im payed for it. Id like to have a life outside work too...
Depends on the industry and company, but its quite common to not be payed for overtime in my experience.
