Sounds like a good idea on the surface, but I don't think this is something you can properly research as an individual. Of course every puppy yoga class is going to put "the puppies' health and wellbeing is our number 1 priority and we make sure they get plenty of rest" on their website, yknow?

In addition to what has already been said: vet bills can really add up (even more so because you need to keep at least a small group of rats) and pet insurance isn't usually an option.
To be fair to st francis, he lived in the 13th century. Back then a good cat probably really did rank quite highly among the available medical treatments

TL;DR: parrot was a semi-wild rescue, rescuer noticed that she wanted to go in the tree all the time. He checked it out and found a litter of kittens. He tried to reintroduce the kittens the the neighbours cat, who seemed to be the mother, but she rejected them. So: he rescued the kittens, raised them together with his own cat and parrot, and gave them a home. Happy ending for all.

Not a doc, but I think they block it off so broken-off chunks don't go racing down your veins, blocking up important shit like your brain.
