That’s where Rose, Blanche, Dorothy, and Sophia have the hard conversations.
It’s probably Florida or somewhere down there. They’ve got screened-in porches that can withstand hurricanes (well, the frame can at least).
Ahhh hahahah, I saw the height on it and thought *that’s got to be Stella’s.* I’ve had a lot of fun making things from that book! I spend too much time on serious eats. It looks amazing! Next you gotta do the impossible pecan pie that was cut from her book!
Wash them hands girl!
But can I put my mind at ease?
Clicked on this post because I’m watching it snow outside and thought *same here.* Did not expect to have such a *same here* for something like this… mine loves sunning and we’ve been holding off so we could give him a really nice all day, fun day this spring. It’s been rough. Just wanted to say that it feels better to know I’m not the only one in the world wishing it would stop snowing so a really hard day can have a little bit of light. Dogs are the best, I’ll be thinking of you next week!
A lot of the mass produced brands are extruded ground beef whereas this post is sliced beef.
Thanks!
Can I have one, too? Please?
Contact with US soldiers during the Korean War is the reason South Korea has a very high circumcision rate, at around 75% of males now (used to be higher). One of the stranger cultural influences to pick up.
Okay, but, like, hear me out… “John and I” just sounds ugly to me (a bit classist, maybe). So I always say “John and me.” Also have this thing about people who correct my “I’m good” with a sharp “I’m *well*.” Language will always betray you. And, anyways, “I’m good” communities more accurately the way I’m feeling: I’m feeling well and lawless. “I’m *well*” says more than it means to (thus the betrayal). Then again, a graduation speech is not a checkout line. Context informs syntax, I guess.
I keep telling myself that there’s too much money to be made for them to start taking away my meds. We’ll see if that holds… but it makes me feel better.
Thank you! I know I read slow, but Jesus Christ.
A tiny (real small) amount of baking soda can speed up caramelized onions quite a bit!
*that’s to say: fuck that, they paid for good instruction so give them good instruction or give them their money back.
It’s even worse than that and the university laid it all out when students sued for less-than-effective instruction (zoom classes) during Covid. The university said, paraphrase, the “value is in the degree conferred.” Other words, you pay for the diploma and not the content or quality of instruction. Told me all I needed to know about how the university sees my teaching.
I’m all for calling his bullshit out, but let’s not get sloppy with how it’s presented. The headline in the screenshot was from October ‘24. The content that follows isn’t wrong but it looks, well… it looks suspicious. Yeah, browning the milk solids and not the sugar.
Had a brain injury/hemorrhage and was airlifted. This was in the US. I was unconscious the whole time. Most expensive helicopter ride I never got to see. But I didn’t die!
Oh damn, just learned these things are critically endangered. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_hamster
Ohh, I didn’t even think of that! Butyeah, it kind of reads like a bad parroting of someone else’s not great argument.
He’s in with the early Zionist (Theodor Herzl, mostly). It’s a group of folks that had grown tired and skeptical of assimilation—no amount of assimilation would satisfy the larger culture, antisemitism would always make Jews a target. The fix: create a Jewish state (ethnically Jewish more than religious). The WHERE of this state changes. It ultimately landed in Israel. Israel only recently got “ancient homeland” mythos. But the early Zionist were largely secular. The place was not so important.
3 for Dale!
I mean… seems like a good partner for Gaynor (who just wants to lead the gays to Christ). This seems to always haunt the Disco queens. The whole Donna Summers fiasco included. I think—my theory—they saw some shit at the clubs in the 80s that left them thinking we gays need christ.
Totally agree with you on US politics, how queer has been around forever, and the not-so-great biblical import! Really. I’ve got my own shortsightedness with a text/language bias. And what I know about Greek/Roman is shit. What kills me about the Carter-quotation is that he treats the Bible as answer-book (a phone book, basically) and masks the murky complexity and elusiveness that makes the Bible interesting. After all, Jonathan and David had that thing. And Naomi and Ruth.
And, right, Carter is saying Jesus said nothing. But the first line implies the biblical authors (Hebrew and Christian bibles) had some knowledge of homosexuality as such. That’s the denial of biblical shortsightedness.
The issue here is that Carter’s quotation denies the inherent and unavoidable shortsightedness of the Bible. David and Johnathan did not, after all, go on to open a bed and breakfast and petition the state for the right to marriage. I just mean to say that it’s insincere to claim Jesus has anything to say about the homosexuality of the American political context. At best, the Bible can get us into a good-gay vs. bad-gay situation (where the power dynamic now rests in naming which one is which).
Syracuse. Woo.
