Yeah, Dante combines a lot of classical characters with catholic framework. It's an interesting read, but I think mostly for it's concepts, imagination, and examples of symbolism and allegory, a lot of it is very specific political shit-talking. I read the John Ciardi translation and I thought it was pretty easy to read, even if I was constantly going back to the notes section.

Thanks a bunch! The Far Side does definitely make up a good amount of my visual language for single panel comics, all the collections I have of them have food stains from when I read them at the table as a kid

Yeah, I knew this one would be a little obscure when I made it, what it's what I could think of after Lindsey Graham died. In Dantes Inferno, King Minos judges the souls of the damned by wrapping his tail around himself for each layer of hell they have to go down. The further down you go the worse it is.
