It's awkward to just write stuff about yourself, I'd rather just answer questions if you're curious about something.
T_T the joy I feel at seeing someone that isn't me remembering Ronin Warriors existed
Exactly! For some people they are like insulin, for others they are like pain killers. Analogies are analogies. The point is simply to frame the decision in a way that helps someone be less afraid to take care of themself and remind them of their agency. For people scared they're going to lose important parts of who they are I suggest trying solely on the basis that it will make engaging with therapy easier. Whether to continue is an ongoing conversation about what is best serving them.
What I tell clients is that compost may be made of garbage and rot, but it's made of the things we chose to reclaim for our own benefit. Coping mechanisms aren't bad solely because they developed to protect you. They are good, or bad, by how you choose to use them. My own personal therapist gave me a sticker that says "Trauma? Oh, the reason I'm funny" and proud of it. I love the parts of me that kept me alive when being alive was hardest.
I just right click and hit save, my guy
I am not the Mental Health Lorax so I can't speak for ALL the trees. In my experience, at least amongst the people who specialize in trauma work, people kind of stumble into becoming a therapist because of how much time they've put into learning how to help themselves.
I tell people to think of mental health medications like taking painkillers after a major surgery. Sure you can power through. If that's what you want I'll be right there with you to keep you as safe as I can. It can also be much harder to do the things you need to do in order to heal at *that* level of pain. At some point, the energy needed just to survive surpasses the energy needed to make healthy and positive change. But my job is to protect you, not control you. The choice is always yours.

I understand the point of the whole "the more people who know this, the more powerful they become, so I can't tell anyone" but I also often argue if the was even a baseline, neutral, not actively shitty dad then so many of his kids wouldn't have defected the moment they had the opportunity to hate him openly
As a therapist, how do I get cool clients who will send me memes? Asking for a me.
I immediately thought "aww, lookit her typin!"
I run a group that educates people about PTSD and the first activity I have people do is filling out a small representation of their PTSD. We then compare how differently each other's experiences present to show how valid all our experiences are.
The premise for Fable for the End of the World by Ava Reid is basically the logical next steps of what this would look like
As a therapist: Never feel bad about sharing trauma. It's only trauma dumping if you're sharing traumatic information with someone who is unprepared to receive it and/or lacks the tools to emotionally handle it. Your therapist should be bothAs someone who also copes with trauma through humor: I'm sure your stories are absolutely ha-ha, but the therapist understands the reason behind them and is providing the empathy you need
#17 - Didn't finish the dump to come down and tell y'all what I tell my clients: Some people are rivers and some are oceans. For some energy is medium but constant. You can work 20 minutes here, 20 minutes there, and pace yourself. For others, energy comes in tides. Then the tide is high you complete vast amounts of work, when it's low you need to rest. Neither is better than the other. No one expects the ocean to be constant, nor rivers to come in waves. Love you for who you are
"When it's cold you can always put more on. When it's hot, there's only so much you can take off before the police are alerted"
I feel like there's got to be a certain level of attractiveness that's required because I get a lot of "I don't think about you that way" from men regardless

A guy sent me a nude and my response was "cool watch!" It took telling this story to several men, and them being horrified, before I realized why that wasn't a great response

I still wear them with my bra straps showing. Fuck it, amma enjoy life.

it's basically a plot point in Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Part 4
I always get confused by the Wankers Corner, Oregon one popping up, because I know it's a building, but I don't think it's a town
I'm genuinely surprised not one person that I could find made a joke about Sentinel Island being the worst place to visit
I volunteered with them for over a year and it was some of the most fulfilling work I've done in Mental Health
