There’s actually more to the story! Darker pigmentation protects from skin damage from sunlight but it also reduces the amount of vitamin D produced. It’s a balancing act between death by cancer and complications from vitamin D deficiency!

Head shape is generally only a way to tell families of snakes apart. In the US, colubrids, that have narrow heads, are mostly non-venomous (some have a mild venom and “rear” fangs that calm prey they are eating) and aren’t harmful to humans. That means the majority of danger comes from vipers that have wedge-shaped heads with huge venom glands. It should be noted that one of the most venomous snakes in the US is the coral snake which is an elapid and lacks the viper head shape as well.
It seems there is some confusion. They aren’t saying “this snake is black so it is harmless”. They’re saying this is Pantherophis obsoletus, commonly known as “black snakes” or “black rat snakes”, which are harmless. If it is long and wiggly-looking and somewhere weird (in NA), it’s a black rat snake. You can also tell by the shape of the head and the hint of splotchy white scales peeking out from its belly.
Fun fact: they’re not bones, they’re SCALES!

If I remember correctly, listerine started off as the first surgical scrub then was later altered to be marketed as a mouth wash.
I was in the same boat a year ago. I am so tired of non-stick pans being useless after a year and wanted something that cooks well but is low maintenance. I got an enameled la creuset skillet and I love it! Easy to use if you use a little oil, and doesn’t need to be seasoned, and doesn’t have a single scratch in it like a non-stick would by now. I highly recommend!
