Mercator should say "you're a lazy internet company". Going to school in the 80s/90s Mercator was dunked on repeatedly as only suitable for old school sextant navigation and otherwise crap, all our world maps were Robinson, Winkel-Tripel or other similar projections. Then every internet company decided that a 1:1 mapping between the y coordinate and longitude would make things a billion times easier and the terrible map was back everywhere.
FighterBomber is one of the more credible Russian mil-bloggers. He's well connected with their airforce, if you speak Russian he's probably the best source for knowing when one of their aircraft crashed, if it was due to hostile fire or something else, and if the crew survived or not.
There are exceptions to that rule, boar spears have a heavy crossbar because a pig will charge down the spear impaling it to kill you with its dying breath. So if you're in an area with feral swine a long gun or the heaviest hand gun you can manage the recoil of (a magdump of 9mm beats a single shot from a .50 desert eagle that knocks you down). Polar bears have a reputation as man killers, but I don't know if they'd actually shrug off a handgun like people falsely say grizzly's will or not.
Some years back I read an article from a hunting (gun?) magazine whose author collecting a few decades of hiker vs bear encounters from continental US news archives. Everyone who managed to actually shoot the bear (black or grizzly) survived, even if it was with something as pathetic as a snub nosed .38 special revolver. Small handguns weren't enough to kill the bears, but even minor injuries in nature are often fatal so most wildlife will flee from anything that can actually hurt it.
The problem with designing bear proof trash cans is that there's not much of a gap between the smartest of bears and the dumbest of humans.
Good luck. Some nitwit used my first.last@gmail address to sign up for a retail card provided by Synchrony. Unlike every other time that's happened, I've been unable to find any way to contact them and get myself removed. My credit report is clean, and they've been making payments every month, but I'm frustrated that it's been months and they haven't noticed or tried to fix their own account.
My town treats blight removal demolitions as top secret. Not because of people stealing wire or copper pipe (odds are that's long gone) but because if is known as a demo/cleanup site dirtbag will dump trailers worth of tires and other expensive to get rid of trash on the site
I tried one from a local shop once out of curiosity. Other than 2 bites that didn't have anything other than cheese and sauce the cauliflower taste was completely concealed by the toppings. It wasn't a great crust by any means; but it was surprisingly edible. I can understand why GF people would choose it.
well maybe it's lemonade.
They way things are going, they won't even be able to afford to rent the libs soon.
#9 IF you're not being stupid for views, does this thing actually work? Big bottles are so much cheaper than cans other than the minor problem of having to guzzle 2 liters in an hour to keep half it it from going flat.
Playing stupid games with something 1000x your size risks accidental disaster, but as noted if the Elephant wanted to do serious harm, it would have been **SPLAT**. The end.
Of course not. The person being launched was an experienced high diver who knew how to time their spin to hit the water in spear position.
It's in shabby shape with the door shelves being unusable due to brittle plastic failure; but it still works for holiday and buying like they still have 6 people living in the house overfilling of the main one.
My parents basement fridge (bought by Mom in the early 70s) has outlasted 3 or 4 new kitchen fridges after being demoted to a secondary location. (It was sent down for a combination of being a smaller 'apartment' fridge, and because the best that can be said about its maroon finish is that it's not the puke green that was also inexplicably popular at the time.)
Agreed save the honeybees. On an unrelated note, has anyone figured out what wasps and hornets use as an attack pheromone?
I think this one requires RedFormanDumbAss.gif not a generic reaction gif.
If the owner parked on your cliff top property by mistake/etc it'd be destruction of property. If they'd abandoned it, you'd still be hit with littering at a minimum.
That's widely copy/pasted nonsense. It does nothing to affect the surface tension. It's about making the surface more visible and applying something of known size so the diver can more accurately measure the distance. Because from those heights if you don't hit in the proper braced pointy position things aren't going to go well.
For a typical junk car - people abandon 20 year old Chevy Cavaliers, not 2 year old Silverados (and not just because even if the owner is broke a new vehicle will have a finance company who'll want it back to minimize losses from the bad loan), - the tow company is unlikely to get more than the cost of towing, their cost for storing it for a few months (typically far less than the "F you! pay me!" rate they charge for storage), and the paperwork needed to get a title and dispose of the car.
For a fairly common example, if someone leaves a car on your property, you can have a tow company remove it. It then sits in their impound lot, while the tow company attempts to contact the owner via DMV records. Only if a few months go by with the owner failing to respond or refusing to pay can the tow company do a big pile of paperwork with the state to acquire the title and send the car to auction or the scrap yard (depending on condition).
In general no. At least not for anything of value (vs illegally dumped trash). Not without going though a legal process to have it classified as abandoned as opposed to lost/misplaced/etc.
There was never anything built on it. The fuckup was just bulldozing, gravelling, and using it as a storage lot like a number of adjacent spaceX lots.
Or if it's off road and really wrecked (Whistling Diesel is really good at intentionally destroying his vehicles) you can do really janky stuff that tests one of the tow drivers ability to reverse for several miles. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xlDvq4C4YBc
No. Any AWD car needs dollied like that. You can't tow a vehicle any distance with drive wheels rolling. FWD or RWD only cars can have the drive wheels lifted by the wrecker and roll if the parking brake is released. If you can't lift them from the drive side for whatever reason you need to dolly them. (Or in the case of big trucks, etc being front-towed disconnect the drive shaft.)
That level of worksmanship was so hap-hazard my initial reaction before reading the caption was that the home owner just ran to the nearest orange or blue box, bought the largest tarp they sold and then tossed it down the slope from above.
Tar is long chain hydrocarbons left behind after distilling the light stuff away. it can be used as is,or cracked into shorter more valuable ones.
pure speculation, but the tar/etc used to glue it together can be cracked into lighter more useful hydrocarbons, so it's price is linked to that of gas, diesel, etc.
You could pay a service company to come out and sharpen the blades after every cut for less than an asphalt (never mind concrete) driveway that long would cost.
#4 Most drifters use old cars that are beat to shit. There're reasons why they generally don't use anything nice. Most of the reasons are crunching noises that are as expensive as they sound.
