Yes it is. Its a normal move with 40 pp i believe and it leaves the pokemon with 1 hp making it call for help and easier to catch when ready
Also have some elixers or ethers ready and try to level your snorelax to a decently higher level than what you're fighting.
Snorelax w/hold back, hold leftovers and use an adrenalin orb for SOS battle. Try to teach a super effective move to snorelax.
