The monopoly problems exists due to patent-whoring and anti-consumer regulations rampant in the industry. Even Standard Oil had competitors.

This also brings in the assumption that all companies WILL be in cahoots, and that smaller companies would benefit from it and not (1/2)
This is all assuming a significant price hike of course, but it's all a bunch of blank variables at the moment.
Surely, this means they would limit their market to people who can afford it rather than 'all people possible?' That's not good business.
2/2 If cheaper alternatives exist, there's no reason they would not immediately go for those alternatives.
And I don't consider John Oliver a legit source. I never said they didn't, but what incentive do they have to working w/ price-gougers? 1/2
And the free market guarantees profits only through providing better services for more reasonable prices than others.
lol, the medical industry is NOT a good example of a free market in any way.
They would have to work with hospitals/pharmacies directly, and why would they want to work with the dude charging them double?
And if the price gets too high, imagine how much people would scramble to compete? The free market is all about filling demands.
