When I handled event planning, I learned to bring extra takeout containers. When the event was over and the internal cleanup crew came in, before they started doing any work or dismantling, I gave them the takeout containers to take whatever they wanted. They loved it and let me tell you, they worked hard before I started doing that. It was all going to get thrown out (Murica!) so why not? I was just happy to see it not go to waste and go to people who could benefit.
