Nobody has an upper lip with their teeth missing
That was my first thought too, engine vacuum. But it kinda sounds like a little electric motor starts up when they push the lever.
Those things were spot welded to the body, the marks would always have to be removed afterwards. Body work takes a ton of time and effort. A real "bodge job" would have been slapping body filler in the whole thing.
Whenever there are subtitles you can fuckin guarantee there's someone complaining about it. But I guess the same goes for anything.
