I don't get into fights. I've had people come way up close forehead to forehead (actual intimidation) because they thought I took their cocaine or just because they thought I was a muslim, and still deescalated. If either side had stayed calm, there would've been no stabbing. They're all idiots and I blame toxic masculinity. But the law, at least in the Netherlands, will be on the drunks' side, because they were a bit rowdy but not violent at all.
What are you talking about? Intent is a massive part of criminal law. Someone touching your shoulders to try to get through to you doesn't warrant stabbing. Even if they were threatening violence, call out for the cops, they'll be there in 5 seconds since it's Amsterdam Central station. Don't know how else to explain that it's not ok to stab people who annoy you. He's definitely going to prison and possibly forced psychiatric treatment and the drunks will walk free to mildly annoy thenextperson.

Seems pedantic when the time between "niet aanraken" and "ik ga slaan" is like half a second :P We have different definitions of calm. Also i don't agree that a slow open palm is "trying to grab his head". In the Netherlands this is disproportional violence. Also in the full video, that happens after the drunks gave up on trying to make up and calm him down, and are just standing in a circle . He keeps yelling and just generally losing his mind until some guy walks towards his camera and he starts punching/stabbing. The drunks walking towards him are showing body language, that at least in NL, indicates trying to deescalate.
It's not that black & white in the Netherlands. This guy was looking for a fight and he will definitely see some form of punishment. Also at what point do you actually see that happening?
