I moved to Canada in 2010, if I had stayed in the states I would either be dead or in jail for political violence. I am torn between my current (relative) happiness in life and guilt for not not being engaged in direct action against fascism in the home country... Chef's club and its ilk is rage bait for people who actually cook and/or respect food. This is one of the tamer ones I've seen which makes it less fun to yell at.
My traditional xmas eve dinner is a Hawaiian shrimp curry. Why? Great grandma found the recipe in a magazine in the 50s and everyone liked it... Did my wife and her folks understand at first? Absolutely not. But is that what I cook them every year? You fuckin bet.
I've always called it 'shitter' so it wasn't a hard transition ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
